Recently the State Government made an announcement of the Metropolitan Transport Plan that includes starting work immediately on the light rail extension to Dulwich Hill!

In all the haste to announce the light rail extension, the GreenWay Masterplan seems to have been overlooked.

The GreenWay Masterplan is complete and it is an innovative plan that will reuse the freight rail corridor for sustainable transport and habitat creation. It includes a cycling and walking path, light rail, bushcare sites and habitat corridors. The path is a key link in the Sydney cycle network and council bike plans, and is vital for safely crossing under or over the busy roads in the densely populated Inner West suburbs.

If you want the GreenWay to be built and not forgotten then we must ACT NOW!

I urge all DHBC members, no matter which local electorate you live in to email the Premier, the Minister for Transport and your local member and councillors asking to build the GreenWay.

Got a letter in the mail for the invitation to a community consultation for the extension of the light rail.

6pm, Wednesday 14th April at Dulwich Hill school of visual arts (Seaview st).

A copy of the light rail plan can be obtained by calling 9718 1234.

The RTA has released a plan for the Light rail extension and consideration of greenway, including a shared (with pedestrians, dogs and prams) cycleway MAYBE. Not all that was hoped for.
There's a call for submissions and everyone with an interest is urged to comment now. While it's raining. No invective, keep it measured and (pseudo) scientific - they like that. A good place to start is Bicycle Victoria - http://www.bv.com.au/change-the-world/91699/

Additionally to Karzie's comments above - you can complete a survey about the GreenWay by clicking here. You will probably have got one of these in the mail but the on-line form allows ALL residents of your place to put in a response.

I can also only echo Ian's comments that we all need to write to relevant ministers - there is great info on Bicycle Victoria's site (and why not BNSW I ask???)

Write TODAY - Go on DO IT NOW !!

There are some planning sessions you can get along to. There was quite a lot of debate about the location of the Dulwich Hill station and some alternative proposals at the transport planning meeting of Marrickville Council last week.

The Greenway and Light rail extension is by far the most significant cycling infrastructure project of our region.
Please participate as much as you can.

‘Further Consultation’ over the next 3-12 days. If you can attend a session, your input would be appreciated.

Sessions details are as follows:

• Thursday 26 August 2010, 6pm - 9pm
Art Est. Art School - Gallery
67 Lords Road, Leichhardt

• Saturday 28 August 2010, 10am - 1pm
Haberfield Centre, Michael Meagher Room
78 Dalhousie Street, Haberfield

• Saturday 4 September 2010, 11am - 2pm
Dulwich Hill Public School
Kintore Street, Dulwich Hill

The planning timeline is as follows, and we are at the August ‘Further Consultation’ stage.

May 2010 Initial Consultation
Aug 2010 Further Consultation
Oct 2010 Public Exhibition and Consultation
Nov 2010 Response to submissions
Dec 2010 Planning Minister's Determination
~~~ 2011 Planning Approval
