Last year a number of us went and did this Berry Challenge and made a weekend of it. Great fun and a hard ride if you take the longer option on the Sunday.

Ride and Seek (the organisers) say:
We’re putting on 2 rides – the Cruise and the Challenge.
The Cruise is a gentle spin (25km) through the pasturelands to the east of Berry and takes us to the area’s premier wine producer for a tasting.

The Challenge on the other hand takes us over the mountains to Kangaroo Valley and is a more testing endeavour that includes a series of voluntary challenges. The Challenge route is 75km with around 1400m of elevation. If you do all the out and back challenges on route you will ride 110km with 2000m of elevation. The challenges are not to be underestimated!
PS - for the trackies, don't forget the DHBC Valentine's Day racing at Tempe on 14th February.

This looks great! Also a good excuse to take the wife and bub away for a birthday weekend, with an opportunity to ride through some beautiful countryside with added challenges. Did you do the longer Challenge last year Eleri? I'd like to test myself so this'd be perfect. I'll wait for other expressions of interest before signing up, but happy to do it individually.

I'll do it if anyone is interested in driving down in the morning and return that afternoon.

I might be interested in doing the day. I will consult and cogitate.

I'm in. Leave pass approved. I'll be arriving from the Southern Highlands on Sunday morning but have room in the car for a bike and a person for the return journey if that suits anyone. Looking to join a challenge team with like minded individuals.

That's what I'm planning. You need a lift?

Awesome! I've been given the green light! I'll drive down in the morning too I reckon. I have a double rack on the car so can take one extra.

I'm in. Down and back Sunday. Can drive and take 2 others plus bikes if required. Equally happy to scab a lift.

Looking for a one day relationship with like minded lycra wearers for the challenge.....

Entered the challenge as an individual but will team up with whoever shows up. Can't say I'm looking forward to the Bundewallah Ball Breaker (max 28.6% gradient)

Same here John. It turns out the same cost anyway as an individual entry. Some of the hills do seem quite nasty. Cambewarra looks intense too, and it's 200m longer. See you down there!

It was a great day out yesterday in Berry. I found the climbing really tough. Berry Mountain is a long hard grind. The scenery is really spectacular and it's a well organised ride.

We stopped for coffee and cake at a winery and it included lunch at the pub.

Andrew managed to do all 10 challenges (over 2000m of climbing after about the same climbing the day before in Jamberoo). Pete, Blake and I missed the turn on one challenge which added another 20kms.

And Blake was the only one of us that made it up the last challenge without getting off the bike. Kudos.

Highly recommend the ride for next year.
