Amazing and great that they managed to get full road closures for 2015.

We'll be there, no doubt - especially for the crits and hill climb champs, the day before the sportif.

*bump* - 3 person teams get a discount entry of $92. Any more interest in this? Jo and I are starters but a bit concerned about bike transport to the start line. What are peoples experiences of the early morning bus option?

I reckon riding to Blayney is the best. It's about 45km through the back roads, very lightly trafficked because they are either already controlled, or people are just staying away. If the weather is as nice as it was last year, it makes for a lovely warm-up. I'll be riding this year if anyone wants to join me.

The bus isn't that bad, however. Most bikes seem to come out of the trucks alive. ;)

I'll be going. Probably staying with my brother who will probably organise my transport to the start.

I am planning to do this event for the first time. The 70 km short course sounds about right.

Can someone offer me some advice on what group to go in?

Here are the options:

40km / hour plus- approx
35 – 40km / hour plus
30- 35 km / hour plus
25 – 30 km / hour plus
20 – 25 km / hour plus

I reckon on a good day I'll manage in the 35-40 km hour bunch ok - assuming there are plenty of wheels to follow.

However, the course profile looks like quite a bit of downhill. Should i be leaving with the 40km/hour plus bunch & then dropping back to the next bunch if it turns out to be too quick?

It's been a few years since I've done it so there could be some inaccuracy in what I say;

40km / hour plus- approx - top end fasties
35 – 40km / hour plus - bottom end fasties and top end middies
30- 35 km / hour plus - bottom end middies and C28
25 – 30 km / hour plus - C25
20 – 25 km / hour plus - Saturday Slowies

From my experience most the people who enter will enter in a group rated faster than their actual ability. If you enter exactly as per the specs, you will find yourself in the first bunch of that way the first time there is a split, which will occur before you reach any real hills.

I can do this, if anyone wants to join me in a group of three 35 - 40 km will be good.

John, someone with your speed should leave with the fast bunch - you might find getting out of Blayney a bit hectic otherwise. First splits start immediately after the neutral zone, and then most (racing, not sportif) bunches are picked apart on the hills.

I am planning to register for this ride. Currently I am a weak to average middie but plan to be average to strong in 5 weeks. Love to join a team itheres a place going. Havent decided on 70 or 110ks yet. 70 looks like fast fun but is it a challenge?

Trouty and I are registered for the 110k course and are getting the bus to Blayney for the start. The groupings on the registration site were:

15-25k
25-35k
35-45k
45k+

So we both chose 25-35k.

For all you aspiring B2B riders there is an Easter Friday adventure (C28+) ride to West Head at 5:45. Details here >> http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic. ... &start=440

I've entered the 110. 35-45. Past experience suggest I'll be with a mega bunch at the ~35/6/7 km/hr end of this pace til Rockley Mount where it all falls apart.

Will be riding to the start - so <might> keep James company depending on what he classes as a gentle roll ;)

Anyone going out Sat afternoon that could give me a lift? I'm a sparkling conversationalist.

And what time will you be leaving?

Peter. My plan is to get there the night before. Ride to the start in the morning. Do the ride and leave from the finish.

No real idea what time I'll leave. Depends if j am getting a lift from someone, or giving a lift to someone or just eating sausages.

I expect to finish 12 ish. So left to my own devices would leave around 1.

I am however flexible.

Nah, that's not what I was asking but I didn't compose the question very well
I was considering driving up to Bathurst first thing Sunday morning, parking at the finish, riding to the start, doing the ride and driving home. I was wondering when you'd leave to ride to the start?
Maybe I'll drive to the start so I can sleep in, do the ride, then ride back to the start and drive home.
I know there's a bus and bike transport but as near as I can gather it's about 40 km from Bathurst to Blayney so why not just ride?
All conjecture anyway as I've not entered yet and it'll probably sell out.
Peter

Because every kg I lose represents ~ 2% of my bodyweight so it counts.

Does one generally wear a skin suit in a hill climb?

I didn't see any skinsuits when I did it. I do remember I had to take off my shoe covers. They were deemed an aero advantage apparently. I just wanted warm toes.

The guy in front of me last year rode it on a TT bike. But not a skin suit. I'll just be riding it with a cold this year. Sniff.

How did they allow a TT bike but not shoe covers? I know which one I would prefer from an 'aero' point of view.

The elites ride with full aero bikes and kit, including helmet and skin suit. I guess when they average 30km/hr for the climb they can get away with it!

For normal people, doing 30km/hr in the flat bit after the climb is an achievement!

Shoe covers. I'm not riding a TT bike up a steep hill.

The results are up for the 110km and 70km event, crits and hillclimb and are all pulled out in the next few posts. Thanks Ratzzz!

Would someone care to go through the times and pull out all the DHBC results? That would be super excellent.

There were 30 DHBC members in the 110km and 11 in the 70km.

Also, while you are at it - a list of all the DHBC people who contested the hillclimb and we can see the times together. Did everyone get beaten by a 13 year old? I certainly did (comprehensively).

Some of the times for the B2B are wrong or missing. Bro's time wasn't recorded, Taku's is about 25 mins out (not to his benefit). I rode with Max, and his time is roughly right... curious given it was electronic timing... or maybe it wasn't.

Or, put the times first and the names second? That would look neater.
