Recently the executive decided to turn the informal Saturday Eastern suburbs hills ride into a club ride - starting from the public square next to Post Office Cafe, and still picking people up along the way.

It's basically the same route as the Tuesday ride, but not quite so fast. It will be C28s pace, more or less - that's not the average pace  just the level of effort. We get back to Centennial Park about 7.50, in time to join Slowies for the ride back to the café.

Times approximate except for the start - mostly follows the Sat Slowies route to Centennial
6:00 - public square next to Post Office Cafe - then along Victoria Rd to join Enmore Rd.
6:10 - cnr Stanmore & Enmore (Newtown);
6:15 - cnr Wilson & Burren (Newtown);
~6:30 - in the park at York Rd gates (top of Robinson Drive at York Rd)

The eastern suburbs hills ride is on again tomorrow - weather permitting. We got off to a good start last week (particularly given the short notice). Hope to see a few more tomorrow.

I would like to do the hills ride again this Saturday but don't know the route. Are any riders who know the route planning to ride it this Saturday?

I can't this week John but there's usually a few hardy souls who show up at 6.
Have a great ride,
Peter

Hi,

Does this ride have a meeting time and place at Centennial Park on the way out on Saturday morning? If so, when and where is it?

Thanks!

Does this ride follow the slowies route to Centennial or the Tue alternative? I need to make it clear here where it goes and where pickup points may be. Which gate does it enter at CP or doesn't it enter CP?

Stuart,
Last week we went slowies route, in at the horse gates and exited CP at the York Rd gate.
That's the first time I've done Saturday hills.
Have a great ride,
Peter

Yes, that's the route. It always goes from the Marrick, up Victoria Road, Enmore, Wilson, Redfern, across to horse gates and out at York.

Thanks everyone for the great ride this morning. Got my gates mixed up and waited at Loch Ave, but managed to find you guys at the top of Bronte. Really enjoyed the ride out of Watsons Bay up to Heartbreak Hill - never done it that way before.

With bunches to Waterfall getting ever bigger, any chance of having this ride as a Sunday morning option as well?

Matt T, anyone is welcome to start up a ride. Simply start a forum topic and away you go.

In terms of making it an official club ride, we are a little hamstrung by how many ride leaders we have. We have had some wonderful people go through the training course recently that has swelled our coaching ranks but we would struggle to populate an additional ride on Sunday at this stage.

If anyone is interested in becoming a coach, please contact Geoff Martin! Or simply email the club on dulwichhillbc@gmail.com.

So, I'll be making a very rare appearance at Sat Hills tomorrow 16th Aug given the almost 100% likelihood of rain on Sun. Planning on doing a "Loop the Loop" if anybody's interested. That means we reverse the route after finishing the hills bit by turning left at Birraga Rd, enjoying the fast descent, ending up at the golf course, left down O'Sullivan and then reversing the out route; so you get to climb New South Rd, Watsons Bay and Bronte. Adds about 60 mins. Here's the route (mostly - you get the idea) >> http://app.strava.com/activities/52176261 - total elapsed time to and from my place was 3:35 but we had a mechanical - distance 70k's.

See you at 06:00

Hi Beejay - yes it is. Every Sat unless it's raining, then you're on your own.

On those wet mornings, are we sure PB doesn't just reach over to his phone on the bedside table, select a suitable photo of his bike beside some ocean and/or rocks, and/or himself, post it to facebook, and then go back to sleep like the rest of us?

Don't forget I also edit one of my old strava files and post that as well ;)

Hi, is the meeting place still the post office square tomorrow morning? Could somebody send their Strava link for this ride so I can check out the course to decide if I'll give it a a go or do the slowies? Thanks.

Good question. Seeing as I/we have been too slack to organise the change I suggest for this week everything stays the same.

So, I'll be making another rare appearance at Sat Hills tomorrow 28th Feb 2015. Planning on doing a "Loop the Loop" if anybody's interested.

That means we reverse the route after Bellevue by turning left at Birraga Rd, enjoying the fast descent, ending up at the golf course, left down O'Sullivan and then reversing the out route; so you get to climb New South Head Rd, Watsons Bay and Bronte. Adds about 60 mins and it's about 70k's all up. C28's pace.

See you at 06:00 weather permitting.

My experience and feedback from others shows that this ride has become faster & faster and seems to have been abandoned by the Slowies step-up riders and C25-C28 riders.
So, are there DHBC riders out there that want to do a Sat C25/C28 pace hills ride? Same time, same place but start a B Bunch from the roll out in Marrickville.

This Sat 30th maybe?

If no takers Jo & will roll direct from home at 05:45 and go down New Canterbury from cnr Constitution to Enmore and then the slowies route.
