It doesn't appear on their list of events on the Pub's home page:
http://www.jamberoopub.com/

And the event you linked to was created in November 2013 and only 6 people are going.

So it would appear that it is not going ahead this year, or at least not next weekend.

I was speaking about the JWJC last weekend with C28 rider Glenn. It appears that the JWJC has been cancelled for 2014.

Glenn had contacted SUVELO (as they had an advertisement on their website) who confirmed the cancellation.

I read about a month ago that it was cancelled also.

Perhaps there would be some appetite within the Club to do our own. We know the route to Jamberoo. The take the train back from either Wollongong or Kiama? Although the 9th of Feb is a bit too soon.

Any thoughts?

There's a pub at the end of the road.

Assuming I get a leave pass, I'd be interested. But I have a number of conditions:
1. No headwinds, especially between Port Kembla and Shellharbour.
2. I'm not sitting on Eleri's wheel into the headwinds.
3. No ambulances or the need for ambulances.
4. We finish the ride with a beer this time.
5. We invite Mike Tomalaris.
6. I repay the cookie I pitched off Greg...

Hmmm i know you Philip. You're the lunatic who forgot his train fare and had to ride back to Marrickville. 261km wasn't it? :D

I was at the Jamberoo pub this week during my holidays. I'd be very keen to ride there and back to Wollongong for a beer or two at the Illawarra brewery - something James and I did.

But maybe on a Saturday 'cause masses of families use the $2.50 train fare on Sundays and a big bunch of cyclists might not go down too well.

That sounds like a good idea Jon.
Have a great ride,
Peter

Geoff and I were talking about this the other week, the Johnny Warren was my first long ride and I thought it must've been coming up soon. I'd like to do it again so I can peg myself against last years ride so I'd be up for it!

Let me get this right. You'll sit on my wheel UNLESS there's a headwind?

Jokes aside, that ride from the 'gong to Shellharbour where we rode in a tight bunch, tho difficult, was one of those truly bonding experiences. I never want it to happen like that again (point 3) but that was a special ride.

I'm strangely glad it's not on this year in a formal sense.
