The weather forecast for this long weekend looks a bit ordinary.

So I'm planning a quick spin to Waterfall leaving from the cafe at 6:00am.

Aim is to return before the slowies arrive to snaffle a comfy chair.

Not a club sanctioned ride, so join me at your own risk - middies-ish pace.

John

Yup. I'm in. I'm even partial to a dip into the park depending on the traffic.

Thinking of hitching a ride. Is it going to be an aggressive middies pace or relaxing middies pace? For me it's either this or 20 laps of centennial. Decisions decisions!

It depends on the others but I'm expecting an average of around 33 or 34kph. That's aggressive, I suppose.

I got fed up with the slow middies pace last week and took off on my own, only to witness a crash in front, stopping to direct traffic around it, including the middies bunch which I couldn't catch until the servo.

Paul and I aren't big on having a gentle chat - if you're doing that - you're not working hard enough!

I expect to come home and see some Strava PRs.

J

I'd be interested to know what the Waterfall personal records (PR) of others are. Suppose should start another thread. Maybe according to groups; C28s, middies, fast middies and fasties. Will think about it.

I'm in - at least for a while. Will see how long I can hold on after 3 weeks of no riding with some jet lag. I expect to be dropped.

Get on to Strava Marc! A new thing for me but well worth it if you want that sort of information...

I'm in but I doubt I'll be up to your pace. I'm always happy to go solo if I get dropped, so all is good.

Marc, if you do join Strava, you can filter segments to just include DHBC members, which is a good way to compare yourself to people you know.

Thanks John. Looks like not the ride for me. Still in base training phase so nothing too aggressive for another few weeks. Enjoy the ride, should be a good morning for it!

Off topic: My fasties pr is just short of 37km/hr. John, Wallman and Alex had their weetbix that day.

We started with six and ended with three of us yesterday. Garmin team/Focus Phil was the star rider - very strong. Paul and I managed to hang on.

The average for the ride was 34.6 kph according to Garmin and 34.1 on Strava. Why would there be a difference? And which one is correct?

We were held up a bit behind a bunch of triathletes who kept dropping water bottles near the servo. But for me to get anywhere close to Simon's and others PR of 37 I'd probably need to be drafting behind a bus the whole way and to switch all the traffic lights to green. 37 is a stonking pace.

Garmin was right because 34.6 sounds more hardcore than 34.1

Joining Strava is a good option.
