Vets at Lansdowne Sun 1st
Obviously all the climbing on our holiday has benefited Stuart, and the huge quantities of duck fat he ate didn't effect him. Eleri still suffering a cold, managed to go well today. Eleri was Stuart's lead out girl after being out the front for the majority of the last lap. Stu was in the perfect position sucking her wheel. Although not really sure how much draft benefit you can get from Eleri, Stuart managed a perfect finish by overtaking at the straight and finishing first. 2 other riders came around Eleri (after prolonged wheel sucking) and Eleri was just beaten and got a 4th place. Big Stu goes up to D grade now. Better start training Stu.
I put myself up to C grade today to see if I could hang on or if I would get dropped. Surprisingly, I was up with the top 5 most of the race, but as usual, the blokes just come over you in the sprint finish. I finished with the front bunch around 12th, and it was fun racing and goal of hanging on achieved!

I am a domestique par excellence Well I would be if I was half a metre taller and a bit broader. But seriously, we averaged 30kph and it felt slow as. Bell lap, no-one wanted to lead! So I ended up on the front. And probably best I did because we went faster up the hill. Stuart and I both expected someone would come on the outside and sprint ... but no-one did. I think that was to my benefit because I wouldn't have been able to hang on if a faster train came through.
As it was, I ran out of gears at 46kph and couldn't power up any further.
But great work by Stuart. I sat on his wheel for a big chunk of the race.
This was my first race on the Zipps and I could certainly feel the difference.

It was a slow race - E normally does about 32kph at Lansdowne, but now it's up to D for me. Thanks to Eleri for the tow on the last lap. The sprint was 4 wide in the end as I didn't come off Eleri's wheel till the 2nd & 3rd placed guys went past me on the right. Landsdowne is a great track - nowhere near as much climbing as at Eastern Creek

Great reports from the racing at Lansdowne - very vivid - could see the gaps and feel the wind on my face!
Yet another top Waratah event.

Well done to everyone on Sunday.
Jo what was the average speed in C grade.
Not sure I haven't downloaded the Garmin yet, but I am guessing around 35km+. I did a race in C grade in April and the average speed was 37.1km at Landsdowne but it was much warmer back then compared to Sunday.
