DHBC Brains Trust

Advice needed

The drivetrain on my old flat-bar commuter has died.

The trusty old commuter is an Avanti Blade Elite 2006 and came with a Tiagra triple that used an Octalink type bottom bracket

I have a spare 105 triple crank (5600 series) from a tourer that uses an external type bottom bracket.

Can I replace the old crank that used the Octalink style BB with 105 crankset that uses an external BB? Will the frame have the right threads?

The specs for the bike are on page 29-31 Model: Blade Elite

Any assistance will be most appreciated.

The avanti will have an english threaded bottom bracket and its 90 % certain that the 105 bottom bracket will also be english threaded. So you shouldnt have any trouble at all swapping them over. The only thing you may have to do is adjust the limits on the front derailer.
