A hole on the road in RNP led to Adam coming a cropper on Tuesday*, and few others hitting the hole at some stage. It's about 1 km or so into the final descent on the road from Audley to Waterfall turnoff. Aimee and others hit it a while back. On the ride on Tuesday, Stuart hit it and has a graphic description of the impact on him that is not possible to repeat on the forum. There is evidence of others hitting it too - we found a tool bag, various broken back lights off bikes.

The hole is a smooth sided dish in the road so you can't really see it til you are on it. I fact, I never saw it but just wondered what I'd hit.

However, some apparent guerrilla action has fixed the invisibility problem!

* Adam is OK with multiple grazes and having a minor hand operation to ensure all his tendons in the 2 fingers that got badly scraped are in good order, and fix if not. He's keen to get back on the bike and train for Alpine Classic.

Excellent stuff Eleri. Nice of somebody to get down there and improve road safety for cyclists. Nice looking bike in the background ....

Very neat writing Eleri.

Hope your recovery goes well Adam. Not Fair!

Your speed up hill and down dale has been increasing every week and you were looking dangerously ready for Bright.

Trust the hand mends quickly, and that pesky gravel rash just goes away.

Why do I get the feeling that this photo will make it into the cycling photo hall of fame?

How long do you think it will take before it wears off? I wonder who we have to call to get the road fixed? Great job - very nice handwriting!!

Great to hear Adam is doing OK, my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I ended up with the toolbag that fell off someone's bike. So if you're missing a small Continental-branded bag, with a spare tube, CO2 inflator and CO2 bottle, let me know.

Went through there today, the paint has worn off quite a bit and can only be spotted when u are very close (I was aware and was looking for it and didnt see it until I was about 2 metres from there going around 55km/hr), hopefully the council or whoever that looks after the park can fix that asap.

We did also tell the Police... Dan seemed to think that he was the local highwayman so might do something about it.

Looks good Eleri! Glad to hear Adam is on the mend.

Is he looking good for Audax?

Went down there again - Tony is right, it is faded from its earlier brilliance. Still can see that something is going on I guess.

Anyway, more importantly, the hole has opened up and broken through the tarmac and into the road base at the bottom. It's just going to get worse from here on in and I'll follow up with finding out who has responsibility for the road.

Hope your back on the saddle soon Adam, good work with the tagging Eleri. I've hit that a couple of times before, in the end because it was invisible I knew it was in the middle and just stuck to the edge when I went down that hill.

That sign could be imaginatively graffitied in so many ways.

I found out how to report the hole and I've done that. Rather than putting up a sign, I reckon the hole needs to be fixed.

But if you think you can find such a sign, and you have the inclination to ride to the spot in question, I reckon that would be a good thing in the interim! Pictures please.

The hole is big enough, we could install the sign pole in it. That would get it fixed pretty quickly.

Who's responsible for the road? Is it the parks authority? We could email some pics of Adam to encourage a quick resolution

I reported it through Sutherland Shire COuncil because the road appeared on their drop down list. But I got a response from the RTA.

See...start a chain of events and good things happen. Great outcome! Makes it all worth it (although I think there's a flaw in that logic somewhere :) )
