Hi Tony, I was sounding out last night if anyone was interested, I'm thinking of something shorter, perhaps the "Early Eastie" ride, if there's enough interest. Add your name to the following list

Earlie Eastie - 6am 8th Jan

and it's 1:20 am, not 12:20 am. The timestamp is wrong, Stuart?.

Timezone is a personal preference each user must set. There's a tick box for daylight savings.

Thanks for an excellent ride today Mike. Very scenic, and good varied terrain to expose the deficiencies in my current training regime (climbing, descending, and flat course).

As Andrew said, thanks for a great ride to day Mike. Nothing like a good flogging every now and again to let you know you're alive :D

See you all in a few weeks - I promise I will ride the spin bike when I am in Bali.

Cheers

The absence of females was noted. And in light of that, I recommended fart jokes, but no one told me any :(

This weekends adventure ride is the Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic. You need to enter using a form that is available on-line although it may already be too late. I'd ring / email the contact shown on the form >> http://www.jamberoopub.com/news.php Cost is $60 - money raised goes to cancer research. You need a bib number to ride ...

here's the link to the forum topic on this ride >> http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2839

I'll be there .... on my motorbike as a ride Marshall. Look for the large red Ducati ST3.

Due to my injuries, we had to reschedule the non fixie century to April. In March Eleri will post an RNP ride - Waterfall in, Bundenna Ferry out.

The second post in the thread is out of date and can't be updated due to a technical glitch [Stuart is looking into it] so view the first post for the correct dates and events

I think I will host the ride rather than post one. :)

It's about 85 or 90 km. The ride goes up to Waterfall on the normal route, then heads left into the Park and down to Bundeena. We'll probably stop in Bundeena for a coffee while we wait for a ferry. The ferries go at 9am and then hourly. We may make the 9am if there are no flats and it all goes well, in which case we will coffee in Cronulla. It's about 25km from Cronulla to Marrickville.

This ride is a bit more demanding than Waterfall, there's a significant climb in the Park and a couple of steep descents.

We will leave Marrickville Road Cafe at 6am. Please copy and put your name on the list if you are joining this ride as it really helps us with planning. We may have to split up if there are lots of riders because we could run into a ferry capacity issue so if you normally ride with the 28s or faster and are a confident rider please put your name with (28+) after.

I'm a newbie to peloton riding but I'm learning fast. I have only done one waterfall ride with DHBC, loved it, but will have a few more under my belt by the 11th. 28+ is not a problem. If that sounds ok I'd love to come along. I am now a member also.

Weather is looking good for tomorrow. We'll leave Marrickville Road Cafe at 6am sharp.

We'll have to deal with ferry capacity with a group this big. I'll split the group at Waterfall and send off the faster riders first to catch the 9am ferry which you should do pretty easily as it's only about 24kms. You can have coffee in Cronulla. I'll stay with a second bunch who will coffee up in Bundeena and catch the 10am ferry and pick up the earlier bunch at Cronulla and we can all ride back together.

Such a nice ride today. We all made the 9am trip back on the Friendly Ferry from Bundeena. Thanks to Eleri for organising it so well.

Most feasted in Cronulla, but a group of six or so came straight back with Stuart leading the way. It was a cunning route with lots of backroads and bikepaths, all at a flat out pace.

Michele looked after international relations by taking Roman the Randonneur, a French cyclo tourist we met on the wharf at Bundeena, to a bike shop in Cronulla to buy a new helmet.

He needed to do this because his was stolen at Stanwell Tops when he was photographing the hang gliders!

All in all, a great day out in the Park.

Yes a very good event - thanks Eleri for organising it, and wrangling such a large bunch. Very enjoyable trip (apart from the steep uphill bits).

7 of us had breakfast in Cronulla. Probably unwise in hindsight, slow service and nothing special about it. We agreed that breakfast in Bundeena and a later ferry is probably the best idea in future.

Kudos to Phillip and Andrew Burns who missed the Bundeena turnoff and kept going until they got to Loftus and went "hang on a minute, that can't be right" and turned round and rode back to Bundeena in time to catch the ferry with us! Top effort guys and you got a decent workout.

hmm if 6 were in Stuart's bunch and 7 were in mine - what happened to everyone else? Did some people get lost? Oops

Andrew - there is always the M7 you know. Same distance :)

Will the kudos stop my legs hurting? To be honest we didn't make it all the way to Loftus, but it sure felt like it. To be honest again it was probably my fault.

Note to self pay more attention to road signs and less attention to the scenery!
Note to others never follow me, I rarely know where I'm going.

Great ride though, thanks heaps!

Equal blame goes to me who saw the sign but wasn't sure if it was the correct route :P

My Garmin says:

Total distance : 113.64 km
Average speed : 27.5 kph
Elevation gain : 1051 meters

A wonderful day for a ride, very enjoyable.

An excellent ride today. Thanks Eleri, especially for still turning up although injured. I wondered where Andrew Burns & Phillip had got to. I think my bunch on the way back was about 8 or so at the beginning but we seemed to lose a couple of people along the way. Caught up to Michele at Tempe waiting to cross at the lights with a rider whose name I do not know. Thanks everyone for coming along and making it a great day out.

That was me with Michelle. Thanks Michelle for getting me home without getting lost again. Twice in one day would have been beyond embarrassing.

I almost got lost between the cronulla ferry and the beach where we had lunch...

I guess technically I did get lost, caught behind some pedestrians on a steep ramp in too large of a gear to pedal up I lost sight of the group. I cycled through a pedestrian mall towards what I guessed was the right direction and it was, saw some familiar red jerseys and I was good again. If I hadn't picked them up at the beach I would have had to take a train home or something :S

Beautiful day for a ride, especially after all this rain. Thanks to Eleri for organising this, and turning up, despite being injured.

No flats, no stacks and only 1 mechanical (right at the very beginning).

Anyway a few pics from the ferry ride.

Thanks to the slowies bunch who waited for me at Bundeena turn off. Also thanks to Eleri for organizing AND who dropped back to pick me up when tank was running low.

Hi all. I'll be running the April ride - the date has been moved again due to a large party I must attend on the evening of the 31st March, ruling out Sun 1st April.

The ride will be the four gorges - that's the three gorges with a second roll through Bobbin Head thrown in. Easier navigation really. Route back will be same as last year via Sth Turramurra -Nth Ryde - Gladesville Bridge etc etc. Pace will be C25 to C28 max. Total distance is about 125k's I think. I'll put up a route map soon.

No need to add your avg speed. As stated above, it will be a C27 ride.

I'm very confused, I thought we had an imperial century coming up, now I see it's in September. I was imagining all the possible ways I might get lost in a 100 long miles. Still I'm happy to do a training ride for the upcoming B2B imperial century.

@Phillip -our ride captain for the non-fixie imperial century, Mike C, has just had his collarbone plated after a bad break. He couldn't run the ride in April.

@Dougie - The fourth gorgeous is very similar to the first gorgeous, just a bit backwards and tackled when feeling a little shagged out ....

I assume going north you will be going the Harbour Bridge? Just keep in mind the triathlon is on and so the bridge is closed and there will be traffic diversions. Shouldn't affect the cycleway but worth knowing.

I am still tossing up which one to do!
