At last week's ride, there was talk among a few people of changing the start point for Sunday Waterfall runs.
Now that Mick Mazza's is gone, new people don't know where to meet and a few suggestions were thrown out there. I don't know the area too well but perhaps Tim or Lindsay can suggest somewhere, and in a week or two (long enough to get the word out for those who aren't on the forum) it can take effect.

I'd say that the club members via the committee decide the start point of rides and our current start point is well known. IMO, the meeting place for DHBC rides should continue to be cnr of Marrickville & Illawarra Rds with the bunch gathering under the awning outside what was Mick Mazza's - Sat slowies turn left from this start point so its nice and easy for our new riders.

The possibility of gathering on Illawarra Rd on the Sth side of Marrickville Rd for Sunday rides only may have merit so we all don't have to turn the corner to start the ride.

I'd suggest those advocating a revised start point for rides come along to the AGM on Thur 5th if you want to raise this as a change in club policy.

I don't mind where it leaves from. However, I think it would be useful if someone who has access to the website updated the front page and the ride page of the website, perhaps with the street address of the shop formerly known as "Mick Mazzas," for the benefit of new people. I know I stressed out about the location before turning up the first time and if people can't find Mick Mazza's if they go an look before turning up the first time, they will get confused.

This is something that has already been discussed in the executive and we were aware it would become a problem a few moths back when we found out that Mick was closing. But out of respect to our starting location decided to leave it where it was.

The favoured new location is the area outside of the Post office cafe on Marrickville road as it is a good off road area to form. It also has a fancy name which Lindsay keeps reminding me of but I can never remember and no one else seems to know because it was only recently named.

The change will happen soon enough though. Since Micks was on the corner of MArrickville and Illawarra it is easy enough to find till then...

It's Alex Trevallion Plaza.

The website home page states Cnr of Marrickville & Illawarra Rd's already and the road rides page has a Google link but I'll update it to remove the Mick Mazza's reference sometime soon.

As for starting from outside the post office cafe, that may be fine for Sun Waterfall rides but not so good for slowies as they'll have to either go up Marrickville Rd and turn right or go across Marrickville Rd, down Silver St, cross Sydenham Rd without traffic lights and then do a left right - probably not the best for a bunch that can contain people new to road riding? Or is there a plan for route change too?

How many coffees would we have to sell to get a coffee cart to our start point, or a cafe to open?

A solid drenching before the ride leaves nothing to lose.

Thinking out aloud, the criteria for a meeting place is;
- under shelter
- well lit
- not too quiet, as this will be a negative for female riders not wanting to stand around in the dark by themselves
- location easy to describe

The existing location meets all this criteria as probably does some other locations

don't want to pre-empt the committee too much but it was decided at Tue nights meeting that the meeting place would remain as is i.e. at cnr Marrickville & Illawarra Rd outside what was Mick Mazza cycles.
