Riding a fixie at a Calga TT is a unique challenge. The main obstacle is blood hill which is 3km’s from the start (downhill) and 3km’s from the finish (uphill)

Downhill you will hit 70-80km/hr Uphill you will be doing 12-18km/hr good luck finding the right gear.

Having said this, my brother (Brad) has done the TT several times on a fixie and his times are remarkably similar to his specialist TT bike (fixie slower by 20-30 seconds).

The main advantage of a fixie in a TT is that it allows you to concentrate on pedalling rather than concerning yourself with correct gear and cadence. The key to a good TT is concentration.

Slightly off topic, but worth sharing... Last year Peter Bundy told me that the US Olympic time trial team were training by racing timetrials on the Sturmey Archer (S3X) 3-speed fixed-gear hub. Not sure how they might have configured the gearing, as the hub is shockingly wide ranged, but there is definitely merit in riding fixed for timetrials. The poms did it for decades before they re-discovered mass start road races in the late 60s.

What's the gradient of the uphill? What gearing did Brad use?
