G'day all, to celebrate the commissioning of our new commissaire, James Mabbot & the need to have some racing I plan to run a club crit on the 12/09/2010. I had the 5/09/2010 boooked but numbers did not look good when I asked around so I've moved it back a week. The track is yet to be fully confirmed and the racing not yet sanctioned but I"m quite confident it will be happening.

Criterium: Sunday 12/09/2010
Location: Dunc Gray Criterium circuit
Start time: 7:30am- 8am
Expected finish time: 8:30am-9:30am
Grades: A/B handicapp (combined), C/D scratch race
Cost: $5 for racing
Prize money: nil.
Distance: approx 30kms but based on your handicapp. Racing works so that riders are given an allocated start & thus an equal chance of winning!!!

The plan is that everybody meet at Mick Mazza's at 6:30am as usual & ride out together race & ride back as like last month. The route has been found to be suprisingly safer & quieter than expected.

If anybody chooses to drive out or is coming from another direction & doesn't know where dunc Gray is; here's the map:

I'd be keen to join this but a few quick questions if I may.

Background: I don't have experience in Crits; I've done one race where I was promptly dropped by the group (in a scratch race) and a relay race on a crit course; which isn't a crit.

So... Am I right to think that C/D group is for me?
And... As I'm lazy I'll be driving, is the meeting point the main car park we use for RAW?

Crits aren't too much different from a long track race. You may do ok in B, but it's sometimes hard to tell till you give it a go. You can wait till sign on and slot yourself in.

I've been doing the waterfall rides on and off for a few months but I've never raced before. I'm keen to particpate but do i require more build up/training/experience before joining in ?

What time do you think the event will be complete ?

The only thing you really require is a racing license. It's a pretty easy going event though always depends on who shows up. So more people the better really. I think from memory we're normally back at the cafe between 10am -10:30am, though I can't remember exactly.
