Hey guys just to let everybody know who may not be aware and remind everybody else, there is just under a week till our monthly Crit racing begins at Dunc Gray Crit circuit. The venue is booked, the official sanctioning letter has been received, so we are ready to go!!!!!

Criterium Racing: Sunday 17 May 2009.
Location: Dunc Gray Criterium circuit
Start time: 7:30am- 8am
Expected finish time: 8:30am-9:30am
Grades: Slowies (C), Middies (B), Fasties (A)
Cost: $5 for racing, $5 for bbq.
Prize money: nil.
Distance: approx 30kms but based on who shows up, less for slowies, maybe more for fasties
Type of racing: Scratch races, maybe handicapp depending on numbers
One day licenses: ??? yes, officially there is no reason why not, they cost $15 but I have to find out which form we need to make them official.

& yes there will hopefully be a bbq!!!!! once I find a portable one to take out or establish if they are available there. I plan to do bacon & egg roles for breakfast & hopefully there will be a coffee source in the vacinity!!

The plan is that everybody meet at Mick Mazza's at 6:30am as usual & ride out together race & ride back. The boys are working on the route. Anybody not wishing to race is more than welcome to ride out and watch.

If anybody chooses to drive out or is coming from another direction & doesn't know where dunc Gray is; here's the map:

Could you please post the route being ridden there, so if anyone is late they know which way to ride.

This sounds great Simon. Count me in. Is my Cycling Aust Recreational Licence sufficient for this?

Ok, sorted out a route, its less then 20km, but I will warn you, its not flat all the way, there are a few hills. Of course if someone has come up with a better one Iḿ all open.

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Ro ... -Dunc-Grey

I could have made it slightly more direct, but Iḿ not sure of the road surface down Canterbury road. The only bad bit is the fact you have to go through the guts of Bankstown, but at least it avoids the Hume high way.

Possible modification to the route, avoiding going past Bankstown station. Unfortunately mapmyride no longer seems to zoom to the starting point automatically :x

There may be less hills that way, I´m not sure as I don´t know the area. Its around the same distance, we can argue about it tomorrow morning on the way out as they both start the same. I don´t think Bankstown is going to be a problem that time of the day. I´m also not sure about the little bit in the middle, you can´t drive it as far as I know, but should be ok on a bike.

Is it a ride it licence? or racing? you'll need a racing....

Hey cheers lads for mapping out the way out. If it's only 20kms out, we could extend the race???

Plus I just decided there will be premium sprints, which will not pay but could go towards some kind of point score, the final position or the people beaten could just buy them a beer or cofee later...

I'd definatly be up for a longer race. The longer the distance the more chance ive got of beating Tim.

I'm thinking of meeting the ride at the corner of Georges River Rd & Milton St - what time approx do you think the group will pass through there? Are all three groups riding together at a slowies pace?

We will be riding as one group. That corner is about 5 kms in, so if we average say 28km/h its 11 minutes, now we know that isn´t going to happen. I´d say we will be there 15 minutes in, so 6.45 if we get away on time.

This route isn´t set in stone yet, but if people are going to meet us along the way I guess it can be.

Consider it the route we are taking. For this time anyway. I was a bit slack and only came up with it yesterday, drove it this morning on my way to DGV.

Great circuit and great racing. Thanks to Simon and others who spent hours getting this off the gound. Really enjoyed it.

Otherwise, I am declaring my allegiance to Middies bunch for Waterfall from now on. And whenever I join the Fasties to Waterfall, I'm just a visitor. ;)

Great fun racing, not so much fun crashing, but at least it was only me

Most of my damage seems to be superficial, except for my left hand around the thumb which has swollen up and is sore and weak when used, so i'll get it checked out tomorrow and report back.

I've got to say my heart stopped abit in a not flustered because I"m a nurse kind of way when I heard about the crash & couldn't see it. Next month because you received a one month ban for stupidity and you'll be running it, it would be a good idea to have abike at hand to ride to crashes, it took way to long walking...

Though we will need a first aider if you don't have a certificate & they will need a bike too....

No worries, i've got my first aid, sports trainer level 1, and i'll probably have renewed my cpr by then as well. Don't mind running it, though i will be reminding people that the lap numbers are a guide, and they should listen for the bell.

I'll bring a bike as well.

A back pack for that first aid kit would be good. That tool box is only good for walking dental students.

As words on this event gets out in cyberspace and forum land, I just want to clarify if there's any restrictions on entry of this event.

Are we restricting this event at present to just our club riders? Only riders who regularly rides with us? Any rider with racing license?

I just can't remember what the decision was.

I'll let Simon fill in the exact details but I believe as we are running a cat 5 event we are only allowed our club, plus three other clubs which we have elected when the application was put in. I know one is Bisci sport, i'm not sure on the others.

Yeah since we are running our racing as a cat 5 event, we are only able to invite 3 other clubs. For the Crit they are Southern cross (due to track connections & agreements), Randwick & Lidcombe. & for the omnium, Southern Cross, Bicisport, & Randwick.

We could move to Cat 4, which from what I"ve been learning this week would be open invite but it would cost the club more ($$$) & will need a bit more thought. So for insurance purposes only the clubs which are listed can currently race, though I will more than likely get bicisport changed for Lidcombe for the omnium before the next one as the only rider who consistently shows up from another club rides for them....

Well, diagnosis of the injured hand so far, for those that understand. 2mm flake fracture at base of proximal phalanx of thumb. Have to visit the fracture clinic due to the possibility of an ulnar collateral ligament injury.

Seems to be feeling better every day, so i expect i'll be racing the Ken Dinnerville still.

Ouch, chip #. Did it involve the joint? Make sure it's properly treated or you'll risk developing an arthritis. You need that thumb. Good luck with your recovery!

Yes - ouch....Doesn't sound that it will hold you back for long. Good luck at Ken Dinnerville.....and watch those corners.
