Lizanne Wilmot was in action on the first weekend of November at the State Championships and did Dulwich Hill proud in picking up a Silver Medal in the standing lap Elite Womens Category with a time of 21.32.

This was followed by the Match Sprint the following day with Lizanne qualifying 5th and just missing out on the top 4. Unfortunately tactics did not go Lizanne's way when the sprint started with Lizanne over 10M behind with less than 200M to go and although able to pull back a vast amount, missed out by a wheel length at the finish line, and unfortunately under the new rules in place, it was only one sprint and not a best of three.

However Lizanne seemed determined to end the weekend on a high with the Sydney Metro Championships on the Sunday consisting of a 2km Individual Pursuit, sprint derby and scratch race.

Facing arguably her weakest event first in the pursuit, Lizanne put in a 2:48 to take a 3rd and set a good foundation leading into the sprint derby which is a four rider 3 lap scratch race. Lizanne took out the race with relative comfort to set up the decider.

However the scratch race is always an unpredictable event but Lizanne judged her positioning well and was able to find the right wheel in the remaining laps to take out the race and the Metro's title to complete a good weekend.

Go Lizanne!

Now the icing on the cake - can Lizanne win the 'Ride for Life' Vintage bike race this Sunday?
