Forgot to post this Friday arvo.

The last training session for Summer, we had 22 riders

Welcome back to Hugo, who worked with Michelle on the warm up track

First up, after the individual warm up, was the Paceline Drill. This week we had 4 small groups with 2 groups on the track at a time.

This week was Group B’s turn on the trainers. Again, thanks to Simon for running this.

On the main track the first drill was a short Team Pursuit, with each rider of the team leading for 2 laps. This was not timed so everyone could get the feel and work as a team. We had Alison, Taku, Francis and Rohan. Matthew, Rosie, Zanzi and Rory. Claude, Caitlin and Louie. And Xavier, Christian and Juliette. The focus was on team work. Holding your line and not sprinting off the front but holding a steady pace.

Next up Derby races with Lizanne riding with each group. Taku, Rohan, Francis, Alison and Matthew were first on the start line. 2 laps, winner takes all. The first lap was cat and mouse with no one take the lead. After the bell it was on for young and old. Taku was boxed in by Lizanne until the third corner and then made his move, coming around Rohan who had lead most of the second last lap. Taku crossed first, then Rohan, Francis, Alison and Matthew.
Second race, Rosie, Zanzi, Claude, Rory and Louie. Zanzi pulled away from the start but slowed on the back straight of the 2nd lap but was still strong enough to get the better of Louie and Rosie, closely followed by Rory and Claude.
Third race was Taku, Rohan, Francis, Alison And Matthew. In this on Alison took off from the start and was a ½ lap ahead. The other finally got it together but could not catch Alison. Taku second, followed by Francis, Matthew and Rohan.

Group B had finished the trainer session and were eager to get back on the track so it was Italian Pursuit time. Christian, Caitlin, Rosie, Mia, Adrien and Luka vs Xavier, Claude, Isaac, Darani, Rory and Zanzi. This one was a close one, the trainer session had taken its toll and slowed Adrien, Darani, Isaac, Luka, Luke, Mia. The others still had lots of steam. Luka just home before Zanzi.

Everyone looked to now be exhausted so I ended the session at 6:55.

As the track season ends, all of the remaining races are now events outside of Sydney. The next closest event, to Sydney, will be the ANZAC day track carnival in Bowral on ANZAC day, 25th April, starting 2:30pm. U9’s and up, entries close 14th April. Bowral’s a little bit further that Lidcombe but hopefully we can get another great team together.
