DHBC Juniors Training, News and Statistics 17 October 2012

Hi All,

Another huge night with 17 riders. The number of bikes still an issue but we worked with what we had.

Welcome back to Francis and Luka. Hope to see you each week from now on.
Also Isaac was back, good to see as well as Xavier, Francis’ younger brother giving the track a go.

And the Magpie looks to have gone, not around for the last two weeks so it’s safe to jump onto the track!!

First, Individual warm ups and then Paceline drills

Then straight into 6 lap scratch races, Caitlin, Melina and Will contesting the first race. It was a close finish, with Will just getting the better of Caitlin. Next was the biggest group, with Sarah, Luka, Adrien, Luke, Toby, Darani and Claude. Adrien power from the start with Darani second then Sarah. Lastly were Rohan, Francis, Taku and Matthew, with Matthew matching Taku most of the way but tiring at the end for Rohan to come past for second. Excellent racing by all.

Lastly, Italian pursuit. The first round groups were Melina, Will, Toby, Luke, Darani, Matthew and Taku v Caitlin, Claude, Luka, Sarah, Adrien, Francis and Rohan. The second group came home first but noted efforts from Caitlin, Melina and Sarah who all put in great effort to rider of the front the their teams trying to hold on.
For the second round the teams were mixed up a bit. Melina, Will, Toby, Luke, Francis, Sarah, and Rohan v Caitlin, Claude, Darani, Luka, Adrien, Matthew and Taku. Another good race with the second group finishing in a time of 4:26.89 to 4:41.31. All team working well together.

Racing

Firstly, congratulations to Taku, Broughton and Tom for their valiant effort at the National Junior Track Series last weekend. Hugh learning experience for all, including the coaching team. See http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3376 for some pics of the event.

Also congrats to Bill Bolton and Chris Hageman for a 1,2 at Saturday’s Heffron park B grade race. And Cait Sugenor for a 3rd in d grade.

Again Friday night Lidcombe Auburn CC’s Spring/Summer Track Racing out at Lidcombe Oval Velodrome, Wyatt Park Gates open at 6pm, Junior racing at around 6:30. See http://tinyurl.com/LACCTrack for more details.

Looking forward to at the Christmas Carnival, we have been ask if DHBC would like to hold a Junior Carnival. To do this we need 7-10 parents to volunteers for the Sunday 30th Dec. If you could please let me know if you are available, we host the event if we get the numbers.
