Hi All,

A great turnout with 15 riders. And all braving the magpie, it seemed to be more aggressive tonight, swooping Alison, Caitlin and with Melina screaming on the warm up track

William with a new shiny red Hillbrick and extra enthusiasm.
Melina had a go on the rollers before training started as a warm up, good to see.

Others should also do a minimum 5 mins on the rollers before getting onto the track.

Lizanne on the warm up track with Claude, Melina, Adrien, Luca sharing the two small bikes. And with Ruby later in the session.

Lizanne’s report
- 3 warm up laps on the track.
- 5 laps pace line at 25km/h (looking good!)
- Then one lap flys
- Finished off with the one lap standing starts.

Once everyone got off I got Ruby onto the track, and up the banking. "that was lots of fun!" and not scary. We then did 5 laps pace line at 25km/h
After individual warm ups, it was Paceline drill. 2 groups for about 10 laps. William joined the second group and slotted into the drill like he’d been doing it for years.

Next, a 4 Lap scratch race, to get the mind thinking and the blood pumping. First group, Taku, Broughton and Alison, with Broughton getting the better of Taku then Alison. Next group, Rohan, Tess and Toby, finishing in the same order. Lastly, Mia, Darani and William, Darani just pipped Mia at the line and a great effort by Will in his first race.

Next, I needed to get flying 200 time for Taku, Broughton and Alison for the upcoming track series.

Next, 1 Lap Time trial for the smaller bikes. With Adrien, Luca and Melina putting in excellent times and great times for the others

Next, Italian Pursuit. The First round, we had Taku, Alison, Tess, Mia and Caitlin v Broughton, Rohan, Darani, Toby and Will. The timing was a bit off but the racing was great to watch. Caitlin took off and Mia was finding it had to catch her wheel. Both team worked well together with the second team coming home first. After a short break, round 2. Luca slotted in as second rider between Caitlin and Mia. And Adrien also second rider between Will and Toby.
Another great race. I think everyone enjoy these. This time the victors were team 1, Again Caitlin sprang off the front, as did Luca for the second lap. Will and Adrien put in solid performances on their laps. Rohan and Bro talking and increasing speed to try and get the win.

News/Racing

Junior Development is NOT on at RAW this week, we got it wrong, Sorry. It’s also the last week of RAW so no more till next year.

Broughton is going out to Dunc Gray to try out their Monday night Juniors session, 5:30 – 7 pm. See http://www.nsw.cycling.org.au/default.a ... V/20236/0/ other may be interested
I’m also looking at seeing if we can organise a day to go out as a group over the school holidays, $5 for U17’s

National Junior Road Championships report from Simon Bolton
the club was well represented at the junior national road champs at the weekend. The highlight was in the U17 criterium where Chris and Bill made it through the heats and ended 9th and 11th (of the 50 finalists) in a bunch sprint. The average speed for the 33 minute race was 44.7 kph. It was another learning experience for all - this time about the way the race works when you have state teams in a race who get to line up at the front of the pack and work together to make it hard for other racers to get a wheel at the front of the bunch. Tom had an interesting U15 race spending most of it a couple of bike lengths off the back of the pack and then flying past the bunch with 5 laps to go in a spectacular attack quickly reeled in by the NSW U15 phenomenon (and race winner) Cameron Scott. Failing to get onto a wheel anywhere near the front Tom then returned to the back and finished in 33rd narrowly escaping a crash mid pack on the final lap. Average speed for this race was over 40 kph.
Lizanne has created a thread on the forum for upcoming track events this session, see http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3299, missing the first event, the NSW Track Open on 3 Nov. for U13 and above, out at DGV.
I’m hoping we can get some good numbers to support each other at these events.

Thanks again to Lizanne and the other parents that gave a helping hand

Till next week

Colin
