Hi All

Great that winter is staying away, figure crossed, and we have had a cool but dry night for training.
Good the see Michelle come down for a visit and chat with all

We had 12 rider with 3 newbies, welcome to Rohan Haydon-Smith, Ava and Olivia Piazza.

A big thank you to Michelle for helping introduce Rohan, Olivia and Ava to the Track. Assisting on the walnut and getting them out onto the main track during breaks in the main session.

After individual warm ups it was into the Paceline drill, looking good guys. Everyone is trying to keep close to the wheel in front and the speeds are increasing.

Next was what I’ll call the jumper drill, 1 lap then up the bank to go around a jumper near the fence and then drop down the bank using gravity to speed the riders up. Was great watching everyone give it a go and the crowd go into it groaning and cheering each rider as they attempted the drill, It took a couple of rider a few time to get around the jumper and some looked like they were going straight into the fence.

Then for some fun, what is called in the club a shoe race. Each rider leaves their bike on the fence and their shoes on the infield. They then ran across for the far side, put on their shoes and did 1 lap sprint. So much fun and laughter I forgot to record the placings.

Next back to some serious training, Individual Pursuits. First up Taku v Broughton, extremely close. We need to work on a better second stopwatch with 0.13 seconds split going the Broughton. Then Dexter and Tody, another close on with 0.17 seconds difference. Fabian then took on Lizanne. Lizanne getting the better by 4.37 secs. Alison and Francis were next, with Alison being 2 secs faster than her last IP but not fast enough to better Francis. Lastly Tess and Darani, another great race, Darani 1 secs faster than her last IP and the fastest of the heat. Excellent results by all.

Lastly, a 6 lap scratch and with Lizanne’s help the race was not just 6 laps flat out. Everyone looked to be using tactics, holding back and putting in the effort when required. There were a few sprints to try and split the pack everyone then pulled it back together and the final dash for the line started on the final lap. Lizanne first, then Fabian, Broughton, Taku, Francis, Alison. Then Darani and Tess, not bad following straight on from their IPs

And 5 laps to cool down before the senior took over.
