Hi All,

We had 9 rider for a cool but calm night.

After individual warm ups and toby’s spill we started the session with a Paceline drill. Everyone is now getting the hang of what to do and from the centre field the drill is looking good.

Next we had scratch races. the first was 4 laps with Taku, Alison and Francis, finishing in that order in a time of 2:35.03. second was 3 laps with Mia, Tess and Darani, Tess coming home first, then Mia and Darani in a time of 2:40.45. and lastly 2 laps with Toby and Dexter, Toby first in a time of 1:29.34

Cait turned up late but with a new Fuji Track. Congratulations. The new bike needed a few adjustment but in time will fit like a glove.

Next drill, Lead-out’s. we split into two groups, Lizanne helped out by instructing and encouraging the groups. Running each after the other. Group 1 – Taku, Cait, Alison and Francis, Group 2 – Tess, Mia, Darani and Toby. Each group completed two run throughs of the drills with Taku and Tess leading their groups for each drill.

Next, was Catch the Bunch. Lizanne on the front keeping the pace as each rider took a turn, then the last lap with Lizanne, Taku, Alison, Cait and Francis all going for it.

Lastly a cool down drill of follow the leader with Lizanne, again being the pied piper, leading Taku, Alison and Cait up and down the banking.

Another great night of cycling, with everyone putting in their best efforts, I even had comments for the bystanders that the riders and looking organised and performing the drills to a high standard. So again give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done as you are all improving.

Simon Bolton’s report on the DGV session on Saturdays
For the last two Saturdays a group of eight U15 – U19 junior riders from DHBC and St George CC have spent two hours at Dunc Gray Velodrome receiving track racing coaching from David Wilmot. David has been taking them through a range of strategies and tactics for sprint and enduro events and giving them a good workout at the same time. He is recording individual times over a number of events so that he can provide feedback as the training progresses. The juniors are lapping up the information and really enjoying the expert input. The current program will run through until the winter school vacation and the intention is to run another term of training starting in late July. If anyone would like to know more please let us know. Simon
