Hi Everyone,

Spring is here, Summer is around the corner and that means Sprint training.

Twelve riders turned out for Wednesday training at the track, with the focus on improving those sprint starts. Thanks to Phil Kelly and Theo for their expert advice. A big golden trophy each to Simon Bolton :D and Dale Blunden :o for their excellent record keeping. Congratulations to Zeke Lewellyn for getting two of his first ever 1 lap time trials under his belt! Medals to Denali Blunden for a blistering start - cracking 11 seconds in the first 65 metres. Brother Keanu showed his sprinting potential, nearly cracking 27 seconds over 250m just in front of Ewan Rozdal. Tom Bolton was fastest in the U15s (beating some U17s) with a best 250m time of 24.08 seconds - won't be long before he gets under 23, then watch out! Brother Bill recorded the lowest time for the U17s cracking 9-seconds in the first 65m and finishing the 250m with the best time of 22.43 seconds. He'll have to watch his back for Oskar Wesley-Smith though, who finished in 22.96 seconds! Jake Greirson showed determination to improve all three time marks on his second lap. Sub 10 second starts also recorded by Will Borghini, Liam Doyle and Bede Kelly.

Keanu Bluden was chosen for one of the first of the seasons attacks by our resident magpie - I've explained "Maggie" only goes for the fastest riders!

We stayed back a little to help time the adults sprint starts - some interesting results there too - best time to the Pat. All stats have been emailed as usual for your interest. If you'd like to receive them, drop me a note at: trevort@bigpond.net.au.

National Junior Track Series (NJTS)
Several DHBC Juniors have entered the series:-

The National Junior Track Series (NJTS) has been created by Cycling Australia (AIS) to increase the level of competition for U15 & U17 age group riders (male and female). The series is about bringing together Australia's emerging and talented junior cyclists to contest action packed racing with an emphasis on skills, education and accomplishment.

The NJTS is a National "Club" based series with points being awarded to individuals and clubs over 5 rounds. It's an exciting race format with a program of events designed by CA's High Performance Program Coaches.

It'll be held at the Dunc Gray Velodrome:

Friday the 7th of October from 2pm to 6pm. We wish all the riders good luck and are quietly confident of some solid results at this stage.

That's all for now, so till next time,
Keep rolling,
Michelle Brown
