Hi there,
We had 18 juniors on the track for training on Wednesday the 24th of November- that's got to be a record. Welcome to the young riders from Lidcombe/Auburn club, Sophie, Mackenzie and Alexander who took their first turns around the Tempe track, and good luck in the up-coming competitions. Welcome also to Dulwich Hill's newest member, Ewan Rozdal (U13) - glad to have you aboard. Great to see Ben Bower from St. George back for a second week too. Not great to see the resident magpie return though!

Training concentrated on Time Trials and group sprints. Well done to the DHBC U17 Sprint Team (Velez, Bolton B, Venville) who cracked one minute for the first time with 58.50 and 59.76 respectively. Looking forward to your P.B. getting even faster.

Special mention for Chris Hageman, with the best time over 500m in the U17 category at 42:53 and Hugo Thompson next fastest with 43:07 - amazing what you can do when your tyres are properly inflated isn't it Hugo! Aaron Frater (Lid/Aub) put in the best U19 500m time at 40.07, and Thomas Cornish (SX) was fastest U13 over 333m (1 lap) at 29:98. In the U15s Tom Bolton - looking even speedier on his new bike, managed the fastest time at 45:32 over 500m. Big efforts saw Sophie (Lid/Aub) and Mackenzie (Lid/Aub) improve with each time trial - great first effort riders. Don't forget to let me know if you've had a really good result and I haven't noticed. Results and times have been emailed as usual.

Equipment
Craig Weller will be helping DHBC Juniors with gear changes and equipment needs at training next Wednesday. You are allowed a higher gearing ratio when you move up to a new age group. You can check the requirements on the Cycling Australia website. U15's are allowed a 6-metre rollout and U17's a 6.5-metre rollout.

Team Sprint
Team Sprint training on Monday for U17s from 6pm. Roller session if raining. Other DHBC juniors can train if they wish, but need to make way for the Sprint Team when racing.

Be Inspired!

Licences
Have you checked your licence expiry date? Don't forget once registered you can renew on-line. You need a valid ride or race licence to train at the track.

DHBC Women
are having a special get together to promote the Club to new members. Come on the Saturday Slowies ride from Mick Mazza's Cyclery on Marrickville Road @ 6.30 - or gather at the meeting corner in Centennial Park around 8am. Bring coffee money but I'm told there will be free cupcakes! I'll be meeting the group at 8am, because of a prior commitment.

Medals
Phil Kelly for juggling training for 18 Juniors at once! Donna Bolton for immaculate record keeping, top timing and indefatigable cheeriness. Simon L for helping Adolfo with his pedals. The family who helped keep the magpie away. All Junior cyclists and their support teams for making training @ Tempe fun and positive.

Till next time - keep rolling,
Michelle Brown
