This year it has been decided that the omnium will return to the original format of an omnium but with a twist, all competitors are not permitted to ride a gear other than a 48 chain ring with a 16 rear cog (80 inches) without the permission of the race organisers, which will be allowed in the circumstances that you want to challenge yourself on a smaller gear, your chain is either too short or too long to permit this gear or you do not own this combination and posess another similar geared combination. If you need help acquiring a 16 cog or are dead broke and need support buying a cog let me know before the day & I will help out & we will also try and have a few spares available. Also support will be available to help change gears before the racing if needed.
Where: Tempe velodrome
When: Saturday the 26th of December (boxing day)
What time: Racing will start at around 5pm, gates will probably open about an hour earlier.
Who can come: Racing is designed and sanctioned for everyone in the club with a racing licence.
Races: flying 200, graded scratch race (with begginners grade), individual pursuit, points race and either a kilo or madison (hopefully mixed)!!!!
& yes we will have the famous boxing day BBQ!!!
SO come along have a feed and enjoy some racing....
***Subject to the veune being confirmed...

that would be good, id like to get it over and done withSo was it officially decided last night that this is going to be a morning Omnium?
Then i have all day to celebrate (lol ok maybe slightly optimistic, but i turn up to every thing assuming that if im international i must be one of the favorites, and i should win )

Picked up my 16t at Al's today, so I'm ready to rock and roll... is that spin
As much as I would love to support the club and come to the boxing day Omnium....I'm out, as in addition to all the racing in Dec + the christmas carnivals - I have to save some days aside for family before they start to do a cycling intervention on me. Have fun guys.

Those of you down at the track tonight saw me do a test ride on 80"
It appeared that the flying 200 was perhaps a second off pace, though it wasn't timed, what was noticeable was that I was bouncing.
Didn't seem to be a huge difference in performance over 10 laps, so good for a scratch race.
What will probably hurt will be a longer race, in particular a points race.
Each rider is going to respond to the gearing changes differently

Those track dinosaurs have not heard of the Gain Ratio yet.

Hey guys about the time change, I'll get down there before 4pm & we can start early if everyone arrives...
It will be a pretty easy going event however aimed at having as much fun as possible so if we start early people can join in whenever they arrive..
