Dulwich Hill had 4 riders in attendence, Huw, Simon, Tim and myself.

Huw and I were first timers so we were put in Div 5 / E grade, which consisted of 6 riders. I'll report Div 5, cos I was in the race and therfor paying attention.

Race 1 Scratch 8 laps. Huw 1st, me 2nd and then daylight

Race 2 Handicap 8 laps. Huw 1st, me somewhere between 3rd and 5th, as I'm not sure if the 2 riders in front of me were on the same lap or a lap behind. My mistake was going out too fast and wasn't able to catch Huw's wheel when he went past.

Race 3 Elimination 8 laps. Huw 1st, me 3rd. Huw was told to lead out, around the back It was clear to me that the rider in front of me couldn't keep up and I went past and bidged a small gap to Huw and one other rider. Each lap a rider behind was eliminated, but they wern't on our wheel then there were 3, I went to the outside of the other rider, with the intention of boxing him in beside me and behind Huw, but he saw the move and moved out, I had a go at him but not quite enough and was elimnated, the other bloke had a go at Huw but he was too tired.

Race 4 Grade 4 and 5 combined. 8 laps or 10 laps ? Huw 1st me 3rd. I started at the back behind Tim, Huw was close to the back a little ahead. The pack had formed a gap on Tim and me and I went around Tim and bridged the small gap to the pack, then passed a few riders and found Huw's wheel. We were up on the bank and Huw slowely picked off all of the riders until he was at the front on the outside, I had monetarily lost Huws wheel but with a bit of squeezing and got it back, then Huw pulled out and took the front on the inside with me behind. With a 100mtrs to go Ememerly came blasting past, catching us napping Huw and I took off after her and Huw went past, while I thought I had her on the line, but they awarded 2nd to her, so that was 3rd to me.

I wouldn't of liked to have ridden with so many riders in the first race, but after having a few Grade 5 races under my belt, I'm happy to do it with the larger Grade 4 field.

Grant has been pretty regular over the past few years too. He rode a fair few Friday nights at dunc last year. His house move has kept him out of action of late, i think...

We've moved up 3 places in the club points score! But we're still behind St George, so people need to keep coming in numbers!!!

I'm gathering that you get 10 points for turning up.

Now I know where I came in the handicap race - 5th as the results are up.

Friday night was great fun. Hard work, but great fun.

I was most impressed with the velodrome. For anyone in the club who is considering track and track racing, getting to ride at Dunc Gray is a fantastic experience. You get to ride in an amazing environment amongst a bunch of friendly riders, a strong emphasis on safety and rider development, and you'll get to hear your name included in the race commentary.

Paul's accident. I'm not impressed, you will see why right at the very end.
