Feel free to beat my max ever heart rate.
170bpm
I cannot get my heart any higher than that. Even when I did my VO2Max test, I only hit 169bpm.
From what I gather, the best way to increase your lactate threshold is to do interval training.

The measure of millimetres for rainfall is by the square metre. So if they say that an area got 10mm of rain, then every square metre had enough water to cover it by 10mm. So a bucket is an accurate measure of rain, but you need to workout what it's capture surface area is and increase the depth acc...

It isn't just the water that is the problem, if your BB is greased properly, then the grease should keep the water out. But, as we all know after riding in the rain, there is a lot of foreign material on the road, and the water will carry that, some of that will get left behind in your BB when the w...

Sunday is RNP Day!
Weather permitting, we are off for another RNP Ride on Sunday.
Leaving at 6am (sharp, especially if I am there), doing it widdershins.
I have something to train for now, so I am looking to dish out some punishment.

Power != Force They are different measures. Take it to a Lightbulb, a lightbulb draws say 100W, now over an hour, it draws 0.1KwH (Kilowatt Hours), you don't look at it and say, that it draws 100W in this minute, and then 100W in the next minute, therefore it is drawing 200W over 2 minutes. For those who did this ride (Adrian and Eugene), here is the event that we saw all of the runners doing at the Berowra Ferry http://www.coolrunning.com.au/fatass/hq/index.php?title=Beyond_The_Black_Stump All up it was a good fun ride, pretty good pace. We picked up two riders at Renegade, so there w...

OK, from what I understand there was a ride planned on Boxing Day for Galston/Berowra/Bobbin (GBB), this is why I proposed West Head. So, as Eugen pointed out, GBB is a shadier route, and as long as the ferry is running, it is an enjoyable ride. So... Lets do it backwards. Bobbin Head, Berowra Water...

It would depend on how much we stop. I would imagine that a good get away time would be about 6am at the latest, (preferably earlier). West head is about a 110km trip, so I would expect that we could return by 10am if you are prepared to push. I wouldn't imagine that we would be much later than 11am...

North ride on New Years Day?
I typically do nothing special on NYE, so I am up for a ride on Tuesday (1/1/08) next week. I was thinking of something north. Originally Galston/Berowra/Bobbin, but it looks like some of you did that yesterday. Other options include something like West Head or I am open to other suggestions. I am h...

Well done Geoff! It is just before the Tram Tracks at Loftus Oval. If you look at the bottom of the picture, you can see the top of the warning sign about the magpie that was nesting at Loftus Oval this year. I saw this sign last year, and I must admit it surprised me the number of people who missed...

This is something that I found a while ago, I think someone else wrote it on a forum, so I can't take credit for it. It is suitable to this discussion as well as the Opinion of Cyclists Western society has embraced travel by automobile to the extent that for most the thought of going anywhere to per...

The story is a tragedy, and with some of the comments, it surprises me that we don't end up as hood ornaments more often. The comments I always like. The roads are supposed to have bikes on them. Yeah, the Romans weren't known for building roads were they? Which came first, the bicycle or the car? C...

I do still ride with Renegade. They rarely (if ever) do that complete ride (West Head returning through Akuna Bay), but they do them separately. West Head by itself is pretty tough, but a very good ride. Keep an eye on their website if you want to do one of their rides, ( http://www.renegadecycles.c...

I think I proposed one for ANZAC Day, but it was crap weather, so we didn't go. However, I am happy to organise a ride to West Head with a return through Akuna Bay if you want. From my place, that would be about 115km or so. Be aware that there would be heavy traffic going through Balmain/Drummoyne ...

Protests are always difficult to pin down as to whether they are effective. It is a bit hard to have a control to work out what would have happened if it hadn't happened. On the whole, I think that the idea of Critical Mass is a good one, whether they achieve their goals is a different matter. At th...

I finally took the refurbished levers on a shake down ride this morning. I decided to do a ride before work, and went to Waterfall via the RNP. So considering the quality of the road, it really was a shake down... At first it was strange having the click back, I have obviously been running with that...

Weiyun, you were right, $8 was for a single spring, and you need two per lever. Even so, $16 to repair them is a lot better than a replacement cost (about $500 in Australia). I picked up the springs last night and started the reassembly process. At the end of the day it wasn't that difficult, a litt...

who will only hurt themselves if they attempt the stunts. I know that I often use this excuse when I am running red lights, dodging traffic etc, but I think that it is a bit narrow minded. Is the show Politically Incorrect, yes, it is unashamedly rev head, and they are also climate change sceptics. Even so, the show is good entertainment, and that is what I enjoy about it. The reason I put this particular race up, is because there is a bike involved (first time I think), and the resul...

The problem with Awaba Street in Balmoral, is that it has a full stop sign at the bottom. It may look like a standard Stop Sign, but on the other side of the intersection is a barrier, if you don't stop, it provides the full stop... I can hit 70km/hr on Awaba Street, but that is a pretty short peak,...

Well, it depends on what you mean by new style and old style. Looking at the 08 spares catalogue, it seems that it is only the Chorus Level Levers still use the G-Springs, however, the 99 Catalogue shows the same part number for all of their levers at all levels. Looking at the 07 spares, it seems t...
