Camille
The DHBC Valley Wheelers (vintage steel bike arm of the club) are doing a 60km ride through parts of the Blue Mts on Sunday 26th. Pace will probably be C25s or slower. Am told a bit of climbing. You are more than welcome to join us.

The vintage DHBC people are having a touring ride (approx 60km) this Sunday in the Blue Mts. Can the DHBC committee determine if this can be a sanctioned ride. One qualified ride leader/cycle skills coach will be present.

A couple of suggestions:

2. fundraiser auction or raffle at the Sydney Classic Bicycle Show in March.

1989 documentary on the bicycle industry

Found this several months back. Wonderful 1989 documentary about everything relating to the bicycle, with a special emphasis on roadies. This was made when bikes were still being made of steel, but the changeover to carbon was in the wings. All is discussed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0QjhGr73Ns

Modest total of 6,973km.
Short by less than 30km from the big 7K.

Re: Bike Breakfast Hollis Park 7am- 9am Wed 16 Oct

I cycle past there every morning to work. I was planning to go to Prince Alfred Pk behind Central, but Hollis Pk will do fine too. Funny I didn't see it named in the Ride to Work website.

They need about 8 riders if possible from U17s to adults. If interested, contact Barrie McLean now on: barrie.mclean@cycling.or...

Re: Creating new segments on Strava

Another question: Is it possible to isolate group of segments to calculate average speed etc? I dont own a Garmin and only use Strava via my smartphone. The problem is that I start recording a ride when I leave home and don't stop it until I get back home. My total trip includes an 8km return trip b...

Think you might have a typo in there Marc, if the bike is no newer than 1990 and the frame no older than 1990, then the bike must be exactly 1990
Thanks Mike

Re: Ride for Life - Vintage Scratch Race, Sunday 17 Nov, Hef

The 'Ride for Life' organisers asked us to come up with some guidelines. Just emailed this to them. 1. bicycles made before c. 1990. a. frames made before c. 1990 b. groupsets made before c. 1990 2. No 'brifters' allowed (incorporated gear shifters and brakes), downtube shifters only. 3. No aero bar...

Good idea to get ur friend to bring the bike in. Notice they are nicer if they see u are actually resurrecting an old bike. They don't charge for anything.

It was a lovely morning for a lovely ride. Large contingent of DHBC regulars: Lizanne W on her Clamont, Peter T on his Stuart (?), Peter B on his purple Colnago, Alister S on his Bundy and me on my blue Bundy. There were a few other vintage bikes like a Harry Quinn tourer from Liverpool (UK). Didn't...

Routes is for paid members only but you don't want to create a route you want to create a segment. Open a ride of yours and you'll see a pull down menu on the right called actions. Ride for Life - Vintage Scratch Race, Sunday 17 Nov, Heffron

Hi all The organisers of the Ride for Life are holding their 9th event this year at Heffron Park on Sunday 17 Nov. Creating new segments on Strava

I (properly) started on Strava a few weeks ago and love it.
However I'd like to map out my own runs, or 'segments'. There seems to be a lack of them west of Dulwich Hill. My question is this; do I have to be a paid up member in order to do this?

Re: Council verge find

It's a bit of a strange find. Tyres were hardly used but obviously quite old judging by the minor crazing on the side walls. The chain was stiff and the whole drivetrain seized up. Rear wheel out of true and caught on brake pad. Cleaned that up easy. Don't think the bike has been used that much. Pro...

Re: Council verge find

Previous owner: very thirsty.

Nothing much to do apart from replace the rear wheel inner tube, some quick and rough rear wheel truing and some clean up and greasing. Although it is relatively heavy, probably around 11-12kg, it rides really well.

Council verge find

This is my first find. Not a super great find but good anyway. I am lucky because it is a large frame; 62cm, so will fit me reasonably well. Tubing is Columbus Tretubi Cromor. Seat post is under 27mm, assume it is 26.8mm. Shimano 105 throughout, respectable. http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac292/...
