Re: Police conviction thrown out of court

From his evidence, you would have thought that he was right in the middle of the pack. A fact that the Jacob picked up on and asked him if it was really possible for three riders to occupy 2 metres of space. He assured Jacob that it was.... As the matter has been dealt with, I think I can safely say...

Re: Police conviction thrown out of court

Did the magistrate/police comment on why the charge was laid in the first place and anything should be done to prevent silly charges in the future? Given our video evidence and a reliable witness (Dougie), he wanted to know why they proceeded with a very suspect witness as their only evidence. Jaco...

Re: Valley Wheelers February Ride - 12 February (Johhny Warr

Thought the so-called 'Valley Wheelers' are part of the DHBC. If not, shouldnt this be clarified in some way? Stu has a very good point. I don't know that we'd consider ourselves to be subject to the jackboots of the establishment functionaries. That said, the decision to have the ride on the 2nd s...

Re: Valley Wheelers February Ride - 12 February (Johhny Warr

In 2011, the 2nd Sunday has been the DHBC Adventure Rides , unless moved by consensus/lack of ride leader. That is set to continue in 2012. Maybe the 'Valley Wheelers' need to select another Sunday so as not to interfere with DHBC rides? If you guys can organise more than two or three of these a ye...

Six of one vs half a dozen of the other I reckon. You should go and have some test rides and do some empirical comparisons, then come back and tell us what your conclusions are.

Re: Bike Bag, Hard Case or airport box for Europe trip?

@Stuart - We hired a campervan thru a small company in London called Freewheelers , whom I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Really good rates if your driving history/insurance history holds up in the clear light of day. They don't have a huge number of vans, so you've got to book early or fit in with...

Re: Bike Bag, Hard Case or airport box for Europe trip?

@Stuart - We paid for everything on Platinum Visa, which has pretty good travel insurance built in and reports of claims have sounded pretty positive. I didn't factor the bikes into it because a) They weren't as valuable as your bikes, just nuisance value to lose. I think they would have been covere...

Re: Bike Bag, Hard Case or airport box for Europe trip?

One of the problems in Europe, esp Italy is that if you have a car, you have to keep the bike up top on a rack and security is a big issue. In the bigger cities, you can't just park the car and wander off for a bit. Even in England there's big problems with bike (& parts!) theft. In York for ins...

Hey Ted, You're a champion. I was going to make some beer coasters for those who triumphed, but never got around to it. I might still do it if I get some spare time. Here is the design which I ripped off from a Cascade Premium Lager label... https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2ZF5-XyM-Ys/Tu1yUlfszsI...

No dramas. Does anyone need a pair of ceramic pads? I have no use for them but if there are no takers i will pick up the bill.
No need mate. My fault. I was rushing and not concentrating.

Looks like I pressed the wrong button for yours Strawburger! Never mind, if they're ok for you to use you can have them for the generic price from Wiggle as a xmas present.

OK, I've placed the order with CRC. I hope this is all ok for you Lizanne and Strawburger. It actually ended up much cheaper than either of the other two. They gave us extra off the list price for some reason. New customer? Products Ordered: ----------------------------------------------------------...

I wanted some tyres. Neither Wiggle nor Ribble dispatch tyres to Australia anymore it seems.

I will have to look into the matter, but at the moment that's a deal breaker, fellow cyclists.

paper, tape and card is extra and you can't get it from Wiggle. Also, your boyfriend might be home when I sneak in to put it under you christmas tree.

Hi Lizanne,

No, I'll do it today and I'll let you know what the cost is.

I had some unexpected guests last night, and then it was too late to do anything.

Re: A rainbow lorikeet and a vomit free ride

That sounds like a good idea Karzie. I would put forward an idea for a 'most vomit shed while riding' award, but thats just me being biased. The only problem here is the quantitative analysis. Failing that, comparison photos may be required. This could also lead to other categories such as 'most me...

Maybe we should have a presentation category at the Xmas Party like "Best Wildlife Interaction" or something. We could use the forum to vote... They were all pretty amazing events. Any we haven't heard about (there'd have to be witnesses!).
