Sorry Julio, I thought it was me that was going to be left out.I would have loved to be included in a team for the TT (even if it was full of has-beens and never-was's) but I guess I was not good enough to be chosen.

It'll probably need a bit of advance warning so people can organise leave and make sure it's not an important race week.
I notice that the original race was at the mid/end of September. Perfect time for that neck of the woods.

September or october like those rides would be the better time of year Hear hear. We should do it when the wattles are flowering. A supported ride with a sag wagon/equipment tender, one of those extenda-tents (don't know what they're called) and a gas cooker would make it cheap enough for everyone ...

Re: Metrics
Sheldon Brown [external usenet poster] says:Leonard Zinn says that the lube should be applied just before riding, so that the lubricant can use the heat of the chain in use to bond with the metal's surface.
I hate that stuff!
It's got a nasty slimy aftertaste, and tends to give me diharrea.
Re: Metrics
To my understanding, Prolink isn't a wax or anything conventional but a proprietary polymer metal surface treatment. YUK. I'll check the bottle tonite. Might've got it wrong. I've only been using whatever it is for 12 months as it seems to keep the chain cleaner. Pretty sure I would have seen 'Poly...
Re: Metrics
Yep, I use prolink too. It's great till it get's wet as it's a wax made to be in a water suspension. When new, i use a teflon based lube as 'foundation' and use the prolink every few days. It helps to keep the chain clean, which is the most important consideration of all. Once it starts getting a bi...

More the condition of the sprocket, Weiyun.Karzie: How do you spec the condition of your chain?
As for the chain, I usually just check lateral flexibility and for frozen links.
My philosophy has been that I've left it too late when it starts to slip.
How do you check?
Re: Metrics
Are these figures right?
I do approx 250 km each week. At 3,000 km, that means a new chain every 12 weeks?
I've done 18,000 km on my last chain and cassette and it's still sweet for another two or three I reckon.
Cleaned once a week (hot water, detergent and toothbrush) and using wax lubricant.

Quite so, Mike. I've always wondered why the size (length) of a person's foot is almost never discussed as a factor in this particular (long-time) debate.high heels increase the logical length of the foot, so if Vic was to use them she could stick to her current cranks.

But a great day by any measure Weyun. Thanks to you and Mike - and Peter with his traditional navigation system. It is a great thing to claim a whole day for yourself, even tho' it got a bit masochistic at times! Mike did a clanking good job riding around the highlands with a loose casette most of t...

Re: BSCC Single Speed Racing Sat 6th & 20th March
What would you have to do Mike? I'm not sure what the specs are for 'singlespeed' in this context.I've just done the maths on it and I can't do it. I'd have a problem converting my fixie to singlespeed in time for the 6th March and the 20th March clashes with the NSW Masters Scratch race.

Re: HELP! Cycling Trivia
Jimmy, I can tell you it's better than them saying 'look at that four-eyed git over there' when anyone can see i've only got two! Otherwise, can anyone send me unusual bike pictures? There can be people on them or not. Nada Nada, go to http://images.google.com.au/images?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&...

All the best guys and girls. Have a safe, fun trip. Tip: If you see sheep in the farm, make loud noise like tribal red Indians. The sheep will freak out and run away. Tomas and I did that whenever we had a chance. Hahaha! That's what you think. Tasmanian sheep know what it means when men chase them...

Any rowers in the club? Umm... I've done a bit over the years. It's good to learn (and fun). Just don't let them talk you into racing  The main reason for learning to row properly is technique. Learning on a rowing machine will seldom lead to good technique and you won't maximise the benefits...

Further to Weyun's post, G, and as I said last week, you should all minimise your solar exposure as much as possible, esp for Tomas who has no natural melanin protection. He will blister with as little as 40 minutes direct exposure in January, and doesn't have any experience of what the sun c...

Thanks also to Michael Clement who came up with the idea and came out to do the filming, and Michael Chidgey for the great artwork. There's no reason we can't do it all outside, if we were to do it again. I guess we could move inside if it were inclement. The beer was great too. So close and so cold...

Great story G. It was more like a “drown the other swimmers competition” than a triathlon. Or maybe that’s wot a triathlon is supposed to be. The swim is always a bit of a shock when you haven't done one before and it doesn't get easier, especially when it's short course and they only have one buoy ...

Newest Members of Irish National Squad
Here are the newest additions to the Irish Track Team. The club now has three international reps (including Thomas) or am I miscounting?
