Re: Monday night marathon 120 lapper
Maybe 42 max for first 60 laps and if you feel really strong and want to burn some bikkies take a lap after completing your turn on the front or stay on the front for a couple of laps. Weaker riders are free to do half laps or less on the front. If you drop off, form a second paceline above the almo...

DHBC Juniors Training, News and Statistics 13 July 2016
Hi All, lovely brisk winter weather for the 10 brave riders who turned up on wednesday night. Luckily the wind died down. I recommend you all have something covering your arms and legs and 2 layers on your chest. So maybe add a jacket and knee warmers or arm warmers a singlet and leg warmers. Warm l...

Its the first Monday of July and time for another Monday night Madison. (at last says Ben). This will be something like a 60 lap Madison - not really suitable for those who have never ridden one. You can watch some of the 2014 world championship madison here

where the footpaths are sometimes raised above the road surface with cobblestones (or not) and I often observe pedestrians walk with impending impunity. Often they have no special markings, e.g. crossing indicators. Are these situations considered to be part of a footpath or a road? Under the regul...

Giving way to pedestrians when turning left
As we were about to turn from Lawson St (in front of Redfern Station) into little Eveleigh St on our return from LaPas last week, there was a lot of imperious bell ringing. Perhaps it was just to warn the pedestrians flocking across Little Eveleigh St of our imminent approach but it seemed also inte...

How about looking into using Kemp Park in Allawah? Not as nice and I hear it might need some attention but we need a track we can easily use.

Yes a break for a quick briefing between warm up and starting is needed. And yes many of the suggestions for road pace-line apply.

Re: Monday night marathon 120 lapper
Yeah I hung on for about 75 laps and my gpx data shows a lot of those were well over 50km/hr. Another suggested way to even things out is to encourage the strongest riders to use a small gear.

Re: Monday night marathon 120 lapper
That was hard. We'll work out a way to keep the pace down a bit so more riders can complete the 120 laps. Maybe set a speed limit and encourage anyone with bundles of energy to lap the bunch after their turn on the front.

Re: Cycling Lane on Carrington Road
Carrington Rd is quite busy during peak hours. I drive along it at least twice a week in the evening peak and see on average one rider. That would extrapolate to about 60 riders per hour that were not riding there before the cucleway was built. There wven more riders on it in the middle of weekdays....

Re: Cycling Lane on Carrington Road
see the legislation here and partly copied below. It applies if there is a 'bicycle lane'. Carrington Road and Myrtle St separated cycle paths are considered to be 'bicycle paths', not bicycle lanes. I believe this is because the bicyle path is in the Road related area - it is, like a shoulder, part...

Riding up the Pacific Highway to Calga and out over the 25km TT course, then back to Brooklyn railway station for the train home (thereby avoiding the climb back up from the Hawksbury, although I can imagine some whose name start with Peter or Paul who might want to ride all the way back). Frank who sets up the traffic cone snake at Waratah Park most Sundays to train the juniors has told me a couple of times he was a member of DHBC from the 60s.
