The talk went well with about 15 people in attendance, of which 5 were Valley Wheelers. JohnJ brought along 4 of his vintage bikes and we had a 6 panel photo display providing a brief history of the DHBC. http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac292/marc2193/Velocipede3_zps28f1f48a.jpg

Re: DHBC Valley Wheeler vintage ride and talk - Sat 16-17 Au

The ride on Saturday 17th August began at the Tempe Velodrome and left precisely at 10.30am. We had 13 riders; a good mix of rusted on steel bikers, recent converts and just good friends. Made our way via the Cooks River route, down through Kingsgrove, Beverley Hills, Oatley and eventually made it t...

Most if not all of the roads we use on the way south are main 'regional' roAds, which come under state gov bodies. Need to lobby your peak body first, me thinks.

Peter Bownes at the corner of Fitzroy and Sydenham rds, trying to cross over. I drove pass him beeping incessantly and waving but I doubt if he could make out who it was through the windscreen.

Jacqui
I wouldn't be too worried about the pedals at this moment. Enter the bike. Make special mention of its history. The more info the better.
Will see if someone can help with the pedals.

Penny Farthings at Evandale Tasmania, Feb 2014

I believe we have a sizeable contingent of DHBC members attending the Penny Farthing Championship/Festival held at Evandale, Tasmania, this weekend. A work colleague of mine just got back from Tassie, and coincidentally went through Evandale. Knowing I am a bit of a bicycle tragic, she bought me a p...

Colnago (Mapei?) for sale in Katoomba

This one looks similar to Mark L's. I think it is in team Mapei colours. Probably from the late 90s or very early 2000s.
At $850 it is a good buy. Too small for me.

We are also planning a L'Eroica type ride on Sunday 23 March (day after the event) along the Cook River Cycle way, starting from the Canterbury Velodrome and finishing off at Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush. Stop there for a coffee, conversation and photos, then back to Tempe. We'd probably congrega...

Borrowing long ladder to do roof guttering

Does anyone have a good quality (very tall) ladder I can borrow?
I need to (with the help of a friend) to renew parts of my roof guttering. Would be great if access to Platform-type ladder would be great. Need to be able to extend to at least 3 to 4 metres or more if possible.

The road surface up to Cape Solander is terrible. Don't use your nice wheels, if you have some.
