Got this update today for next months race. Anyone raced there before? What are the likes/hates about racing there? For your Diary: The next SUVelo race is on Sunday 23 September and will be held at Dunc Gray criterium circuit. The course is considerably shorter than what we're used to at Heffron an...

Re: Waterfall ride: Middies vs Fasties

Love my Speedplays. Got Zeros on both bikes. Dual sided entry is a plus, walking is a nightmare. Get the coffee shop covers if you plan to take more than one step from your bike!! Apart from the initial 'skating on ice' effect, I wont use anything else. I had to dial out most of the float anyway to ...

Apparently this is a one use item. Once deployed it needs to be replaced. I guess a normal helmet has only one true use, but I could see this going off every time you have a spill but it minor or major.

C?? (Everyone) Ride Report - July 22nd

10 foolish individuals (including myself) set off in the rain for a ride to Waterfall. Some bailed after the bridge on Taren Point Rd. D Grade Report I suspect there was a bit of 'grade grubbing' from both Manly and SUVelo. A lot of strong sprinters in the group. Pace was a mere 34km/hr for the majority of the race. Russell got a flat and retired around 20mins or so in. I tried a few attacks off the front but without any support I...

Racing on again this Sunday @ Heffron. Assuming the forecast is accurate, racing should be on (rather than rained out like May/June). I'll be in D grade until I get booted out.

I'll be heading over from the Marrickville Rd Cafe @ 6.15. Let me know if you want to ride over.

Re: Bike Insurance - Is it Worth it?

I'm with Velosure. They seemed to have the best cover when i was looking. Here is my coverage:

Total sum insured: $2,000.00
Annual premium: $216.59
Monthly premium: $18.05
Excess: Accident $250 / Theft $350

This does not include my new wheels....

Bit the bullet and got another set of GP4000 + new brakes + new bar tape + an overdue wash.

Time to get it dirty....

Re: Invitation from Zeal of Zebras ride 27/10/11

@Tod511 I'll be riding my usual commute to the city from Summer Hill and dropping my bag at work (Chifley Tower). If time permits, i'd be keen for brekky also, but need to grace the office by 9am. As i've still not made it to the track for a jersey, i'll stick to the black and white theme. (unless i...

Not too worried about the cost, just not happy when i get punctures. I've tried Gatorskins but find them too heavy.

Training Tyres

I've been running Conti GP4000 for the past x3 sets for training/commuting. What is everyone else using that offers good rolling resistance, grip, puncture prevention balance?

I'm just hoping that my legs are up to the challenge. It's been at least 4 weeks since my last Sunday ride due to poor weather and other commitments. I'll be lugging a few extra kg's up the hill too :(

Makes sense to get going early. Hopefully all are looped in on the 6am start time as I would have shown up at the usual 6.30am start time. Is it worth PM each of those who have agreed to join?

I'm keen. I work just up the road from the start point. I'll drop in early with my usual kit. As long as I'm in for 9am I'll be good.

Is there any update on the availability of the storage at the start point? I'm hopeful that I will be able to get a jersey without the need for the trip to the track :)

Met with Greg @TWE and have ordered a set of alloy wheels. Lots of options and pointers on materials. 1 week to get built. Hopefully I will have these on my bike for next weeks Waterfall ride. Thanks all on your feedback. It has been useful. FYI - Greg also offers crash warranty on the wheels and wi...

Thanks Simon,

I've thought about the look of the shimano / campy mix. Just not sold on shimano wheels. I love the strength of mavic but heard the hub needs regular maintenance.

Is TWE: ?

I thought I'd get everyone biting with a discussion on bike kit... I'm running Shimano 105 / Ultegra mix re: gears. Not too fussed on brand though. As for weight I'd say I'm a tanker at 80.5kg at the moment. Not fussed on brand loyalty. After charting to LBS I've heard the free hub on the Shimano is...

Wheel Upgrade - Thoughts?

I'm tired of my Shimano R500 stockies and it's time for an upgrade. I've got about $600 to spend on a new set of all purpose wheels for my roadie. I will train / commute on these so need to spin nice and be robust. I'm eyeing off some Fulcrum Racing 3's (Wiggle), some Mavic Ksyrium Elite (not too su...

Re: Adventure Rides 2011-6am 21st Aug Non Fixie Imperial Cen

Thanks Eleri,

I really enjoyed the ride around Akuna Bay. I'd definitely be keen for that again, but add in West Head. Any takers? Would have to be an early start with a few less pit stops as the traffic starts to get a bit nuts on the return via Mosman.

Re: Adventure Rides 2011-6am 21st Aug Non Fixie Imperial Cen

I'm in for 'The Gorges'. As for captaining a ride, I'm still too green as I pretty much stick to my commute and Waterfall Sundays. I'm keen to tackle some hills. Where are some good ones that are yet to be exploited in the Adventure Rides to date?
