Hi. I've entered Sarah and Luke. As they're juniors (or just in D grade) is there any roll out restrictions on their road bikes that I have to make adjustments for? Their gearing should comply with the following rollout limits: 1. Junior U19 7.930 metres 2. Junior U17 7.0 metres 3. Junior U15 6.0 m...

It is. The bike is a sink, not a source, of power. It is? That seems illogical to me. Anyway if that's the case, then mine was 3.6w/kg ... which makes it appear that I was putting out more watts/kg in July than Andrew is now. And makes me very good not good. Not sure I believe that.

Jacqui, An SRM powermeter is an expensive bit of kit. I imagine there'd be a difference in sale price of perhaps a couple of grand for a bike with a flat battery in its SRM, and a bike with a busted SRM. Hopefully you didn't pay a "flat battery" price for a "busted" SRM. The only...

Thanks Wallman. Just as I thought. A race for very small people! I wasn't sure if the "bigger" riders entered or stayed away from this one. Sounds like the Tour of Bright is the equivalent of the Dinnerville entry wise (harder to gain a start than the race itself). Cheers Don't let me dis...

Cancel that Pat, it's been pointed out to me that the ride's starting at Fitzroy Falls rather than ending there. I might still see you on the Pass though!

Re: Base training
Hi Simon, A new frame shouldn't really be a factor assuming you've carried your old position over to the new bike. If you haven't and have made some changes then it's generally recommended that you make the changes incrementally and take it relatively easy while doing so. Base training would be perf...

For a mid-life crisis you can't really go past this.
Campagnolo Boras, Super Record and to really appeal to their market it's too light to race and sports a compact crankset so it's too slow to race as well.

Perfect course for the climber! Normally yes, but circumstances being what they were I had to do it in a bunch sprint! How about that! In retrospect I was aggressive on the first lap and after I tried to bridge to one too many breaks we hit the hill on the second lap and my plan to win the KOM went...

Re: Wheel Upgrade - Thoughts?
I would buy a pair of HED Ardennes for that sort of money. They use the same wide profile rim as is on all the top-end carbon wheels these days and will therefore feel completely different (and in my opinion a lot better) than all the other options mentioned here. If they made a 32 hole rim I'd buy ...

I had a great time this past weekend, despite the weather. Actually, it may have even been because of the weather that I enjoyed the racing so much. Mudgee's long hills make for interesting racing and the addition of 65 km/hr gusts of cross/head wind and single digit temps meant that both days were ...

I use the T2+ bars. I think they're a good bet, I've seen them recommended before and would second that. They're very flexible in terms of setup and not too expensive. Make sure you're happy with the wrist position they offer though.

It was a beautiful, cool morning at Dunc today. We had about a dozen riders all up, so split them into 3 grades for a handicap, with C having 5 laps start on B who then had 3 laps start on A. By halfway through the 40 lap race it looked likely that B grade were going to win overall, and that's the w...

I'd take along a bit of solid food as well for a 130 km race. That's a long distance to survive on liquids alone, and you'll have had a lot of energy sucked out of you the previous day.

Mike's 3rd was an awesome effort. He went off in pursuit of a lone rider early on and spent the next 30-odd laps either by himself or in a small group of 3 or 4 off the front of the race. 2 other guys he worked with took laps but Mike couldn't make the junction and just kept plugging away.
