Interesting web page here: http://aussievelos.net/ The website owner posted his site to Classic Rendezvous. He's based in Adelaide and has a nice collection of vintage cycles. He owns all the bikes on his site, which is mostly dedicated to Adelaide constructors. http://aussievelos.net/wp-content/upl...

Can't see the MBF sticker or the M on the handlebars, but I can tell you that MBK was what Motobecane evolved into. A number of pro teams rode MBK frames in the early 90s. It's a great verge find.

So today I was driving to work rather early, and I thought I'd wear my photochromatic lenses. They are clear when you're not in the sun. The sun was low in the sky and shining in through the door window. After a while, I saw myself in the rear view mirror: One lens was clear, and the one near the wi...

This is not a bicycle.

So the other week, when a few of us went for a cheap and cheerful Chinese meal up Dulwich Hill way, Lindsay was sporting a nice t-shirt with a stylised city bicycle on the front, and the caption "Ceci n'est pas un velo" in a tongue in cheek reference to the work by René Magritte called The...

I still recall the day when I was a passenger in a friend's car. There were three of us in the car going off somewhere which is not particularly relevant, so we can ignore that bit. Anyway, we drove past a cyclist in full lycra kit on a pretty flash looking bike. I wound the window down and watched ...

Re: OMG i think i'm in love... with a colnago

The Powerhouse Museum has one of these. The one on Ebay is from much later than the Powerhouse one or Lizanne's example. The gold plated C-Record is quite rare and valuable, but there are plenty of C35 frames floating around out there, since they were in production for a decade, up until around 1999...

Came upon an interesting article about power meters and non circular rings I'm thinking that if this is the case, then there will be a variation in the figures given between a rider who pushes the down stroke with a return up stoke vs a rider who pulls on the up stroke. No-one pulls on the up strok...

Re: Vintage frame restoration +Chrome

Chrome is a funny substance to work with. It responds best to regular polishing and waxing. If you lacquer (or clearcoat) over chrome, there are two problems: 1) It don't look nearly as purdy. 2) You prevent the chrome from "breathing", which is a fancy way of saying that you are much more...

Re: The Saga that is Lance

Pre Merckx, Jacques Anquetil used amphetamines. Post Merckx, Bernard Thevenet used steriods. Depending on the source, Merckx was caught using drugs on at least one occasion, and some sources say three occasions. The drug was amphetamines. Since then Bjarne Riis has admitted to doping too, and Jan Ul...

On a more serious note, I am going to assume that there was no washer left on the crank, which is the quickest way to strip the threading on a crankset, when pulling it off. If there is no washer, then I would suggest winding up the crank puller until it does release the crank, or else start to stri...

The angle grinder is a very special tool indeed. It is vital in any real bloke's toolshed. No need to be coy with the real tools when you have steel underneath you. Real blokes don't need to be delicate with the settings on their torque spanners, scared that they might crack something. We don't ride...
