I've never had any problem with using a bell. Yes it has been ineffectual with so-called iPlodders but no one's ever got angry at me when I've used it. The trick is to ring early. Give it 20-30m on the shared path. If a pedestrian turns their head or moves to the left, you know they've heard you're ...

Alright... so why we're on the topic of obeying the rules... how many of us have bells on our bikes I know Lizanne, Pia and myself do!

I use my bell pretty much every morning I go through Moore Park en route to Centennial.

Hi folks,
My audax ride was cancelled tommorrow so I'm doing the gorges early.
If you're interested in coming along I'll be leaving Newtown at the Hub at 5.45am to head north.
I'll probably to the three gorges then do them in reverse to catch the train back from Tummamurra.
Cheers

I have lots of spare wheels but I'm in Perth at the moment. Sorry I can't help untill I get back. If your drive side spokes has any more than 100kgf (plus or minus 10%) it's not a good thing. Rims are often the weakest part of the wheel.

I have no idea how many kms. I don't own a car and rarely catch public transport so I guess... many!

Re: Has anyone had any experience with HED wheels?
I've spoken with many racers and bike shop people about HED wheels and I havn't heard a bad word either. If you're looking for a higher spoked wheelset you can also buy the Aredennes (C2 Rim) independently and get them built up with whatever spoke and hub combos you want. The C2 rim is called the be...

Re: Puncture minimisation tips
A few extra tips... * Keep an eye out for rim tape failures. If the puncture is on the non-tyre side of the tube this is the most likely cause. They will keep happening unless you fix the rim tape around the spoke hole. * Be kind to your valve. Valve failures can happen before you go for a ride and ...

Looking forward to next week. Sorry I was a tad late at the start.

Hi Phillip, I've done both the 205km and the 250km. They're both fantastic rides. IMHO it's a lot harder than the Alpine Classic as you don't get the same rythym and the climbs are more punchy. It's definately worth doing... my advice would be to train, train, train and always ride at your own pace....
