So to answer my own question, it was raining everywhere but at the track. The track picked up a light shower but not enough to make it wet. Those standing starts were cruel.

Last night about 7.25 pm ANZAC bridge: rider in DH jersey on a black fixie or some such - westbound into that awful headwind. Focussed as I was on mere survival, I didn't look to see who it was, much less say hello.

I don't see a problem with 500w ebikes as long as the same safety controls there are put in place. The downside is that my days of overtaking these guys on the anzac bridge might be over.

Just a thing to be aware of - rollers are set to the wheel base of a bike. so a tall person would find the roller setup of a short person's bike to be unstable and vice versa.

Hey Mikejnr - thanks for posting. OK so that's interesting. It raises the question of how they do the gradings? I have no road race history in this country so I guess for me they took a wild guess. They obviously don't use strava or they'd see that Mr Chidgey should be riding with Nguyen and Fowler....

It's funny how we think the same hills are different. I almost rolled up out of Berowra, I found a good wheel and settled into tempo and that was it. Thanks Peter - good to learn a bt of triumph history. I'm currently riding around a tea plantation in India on a piece of history - a royal Enfield 350 when I am not pedalling. Too good.

Hmmm, I've never gone down the bike insurance route, mainly for the reasons you outline. And this inspite of having 3 bikes stolen. An important question would be what the excess is as well. That first Malvern Star must have more teeth and a pack of crocodiles. It looks huge next to the smaller front wheel and reverse-trailing forks.
The second one has quite a slack chain... danger - don't ride!

I thought Geoff's incident might have occured on the way back when John was driving the pace on the front of the bunch. In which case we can blame John not the hair.

No I figured having half his skin from my claws digging into him was enough. I did want to tell him if we were married - I could make room for Molly, but Chiara would have to go.
