Re: why do my headset bearings always get notchy?

Sounds like a long shot Stewart. It used to be that the most common cause for this was the race being damaged (by the drifter), but these days it's all enclosed. Maybe the cylinder is slightly deformed (ie not perfectly circular)....

Re: why do my headset bearings always get notchy?

No doubt you've had lots of comments Stewart. I would also suggest this is unusual. Here's what one supplier says: DESCRIPTION Pinarello is one of those manufacturers that use a proprietary integrated headset design in their high-end bike frames. We've never had any issues with them. In fact, we hav...

Re: Spring Ride October 2013

It's a good day, but if you don't get away early at the start it gets very chaotic what with all the seven year olds and viewing of the panoramas. I'd go if we went earlyish in a slow but disciplined group just to make a good and very red point.

Re: Tokyo Wheels - Second Opinion?

I'm a little allergic to factory wheels as they sometimes use very specific spokes that can be expensive if you snap one.
If you can actually buy them. I have two that I have to modify the spokes from other wheelsets because they don't make them anymore. They're like six years old!

Re: Nonbikerelated talking thread. (nsfw)

With wet tarmac and plastic cleats there might be some "outrigger" advantage if your groin was strong enough, but it would only save you from a minor miscalculation in my opinion, and leave you open to 'high siding' (not good). It would also have the effect of actually raising your centre ...

Some photos from the day. Quality a bit poor in some due to an unnoticed ISO glitch for a bit, but I've Lightroomed them within an inch of their life! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dnINtqlEfgo/Uet8M3E23CI/AAAAAAAAA_o/JTkWjSbWW5U/w598-h896-no/DSC01187.JPG https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7-4uA...

Vigorelli Velodrome in Milan.
Maybe they would sell it to us!
Then again, maybe all the shade would just put slime on all the track, not just the north end....

Yes, thanks for all the vicarious thrills Bill. It's helped us all thru a difficult wet week. Those big country races are tough! I'm disconcerted that blokes "have a leak" at the start line, in the middle of the bunch. Hahaha... I suspect that most of the bunch was also disconcerted by the...

In that race and the one above, there should of been separating barriers Of course. Only sensible. But what was the car doing on the course? It seems to have hit the cyclist. Who hit the marshall? I thought the peleton did a great job veering onto the other side of the road into the oncoming cyclis...

Sorry, I interpolated your roadbike size with the TT in my internal narrative. I must also confess an acquired cynicism of crank length debates. Guilty on all charges, yer honour.
